They wont sarcrifice their pay one lar...self centred..Originally posted by justcooler:Just a suggestion :
If the top brass of the gov all cut 15 to 20% of their monthly salary.
We may have sufficient angel fund to help the poor and needy, so why need to 2% GST ha
Just a question ?
We all are singaporeans, we all need to work for a better singapore, but why can't our leaders take the lead by giving to the poor?
Our PM is a commission officer, and he should be very clear of 'TO LEAD TO EXCEL TO OVERCOME' Why can he lead ha, why must make all singaporeans suffer especially the lower income ones
just a cooler

THE ABOVE ARE ALL S H I T.Originally posted by #$%^&*:Ya, what do you want to know? I thought it's obvious. Singapore has efficient and effective bureaucracy/ civil service. Here public officials are well paid, from police sargeants and school teachers all the way to ministers, MPs, and president.
Here if you get stopped by a policeman, you dont try to give him $50 bucks, but you will do that in Malaysia or Indonesia.
Here the school teachers are highly trained and highly paid, where university graduates will join as a teacher gladly.
It seems obvious that the low corruption, effective and efficient civil service, is because it is managed professionally, and one of the key of that is high pay.
I know some people think Ministers, MPs, PM, are political leaders and therefore they should show more.....altruism. I just dont think it's a good idea to disrupt the system. The higher you are in a position, the more temptations you have. Precisely these ministers, MPs, PM, must and should, be in a condusive working environment where they can concentrate totally in their work, and dont need to receive gifts or getting lobied by businessmen trying to win projects.
If you bribe a policeman $50 bucks, that's a small leak in the system. What about some businessman bribe a minister millions so he give him some infrastucture project worth billions?
I know there are poor people in Singapore, but trust me if you make politicians receive low pay, there will be more poor people as a result.
Why do people become teachers? Isn't it about the passion? Isn't it about educating the future generations? Now it sounds more like, it's for the pay.Originally posted by #$%^&*:Ya, what do you want to know? I thought it's obvious. Singapore has efficient and effective bureaucracy/ civil service. So you mean they legalized corruption? I thought they should have the the top brass should have the quality of "incorruptible" as well?Originally posted by #$%^&*:It seems obvious that the low corruption, effective and efficient civil service, is because it is managed professionally, and one of the key of that is high pay.
