  Just to put it into perspective, 94 billion THB is equivalent to 6.08 Esplanade Theatres On The Bay (at S$660 million each).

  If Singapore's pouplation is 4.5million, one (regardless a helpless infant or a bedridden elderly) will have to fork out $890 (rounded up, the actual number is $888.888888889, according to my lao ya calculator) to pay the fine only.
  
  Now Temasek is going to sell some of it's shares (ya, IPO) to raise $1.++ billion, according to the afternoon chinese news. But no news of the fine for Shin Corp in the same news.....

  So I take it confirm no progress package next year, only got gst hike to raise money for the fine.

  Based on your figures, one Esplanade costs (660 000 000/600 000) = 1100 peanuts.

  When something of this scale happens like the NKF there will be an investigation and proceeding to get to the bottom.
  
  How can anyone like Minister Tharman has done push it to the Thai legal expert who was said to have advised that 99% foreign ownership of Shin Corp was not against Thai law?
  
  Can we place ourselves at the mercy of some Thai legal expert or consultant to suffer this kind of collosal losses which could easily be used to rescue our lower income families from suicides.
