These are the often-used reasons by our monopolistic GLCs to justify their price or fee increases :
1. Increase in manpower cost
2. Increase in fuel prices
3. Increase in GST
4. Asset investment to provide better service
5. Prices or fees have not increase for X no of years
6. Frequent "small" increases will lessen burden on consumer
7. The rates are still reasonably cheaper compared to some 1st world countries like.........
These are the often-used reasons by our one-party government to justify any increase in charges, fees or their salaries:
1. Times are good, so they must increase to accumulate more surpluses
2. Times are bad, so they must increase to balance the budget.
3. Increases are made so that they have more fund for the needy
4. Times are good, minister and top civil servant salaries must increase to retain talent
5. Times are bad, minister and top civil servant salaries must increase to retain talent
6. Charges/fees/salaries have not increase since year XXXX
7. Charges/fees are still cheaper compared to some 1st world countries like....
8. Minister and top civil servant salaries are still low compared to the CEOs of top MNCs.
9. It is getting more difficult to attract and retain talent in the government if salaries are not abreast with the top earners of the industry.
10 Increase in salaries are fully justified because our economy has grown by X%.
I am sure we will hear all these reasons again and again everytime they want to increast fee, charges, taxes, and their salaries.
