Politicians talk, that's what they do.
But people've got to learn not to treat everything MM (or any other politician) says as gold! It's time to start thinking independently and question more .... & remember that all politicians have an agenda when they make a speech.>

Unfortunately many Singaporeans can't think and accept everything our govt say as gospel truth. But what is worse is that some believe that to question the govt is to subvert the govt, something like committing treason. These people have really wasted all their years of education! -

There was trust and faith between the founding fathers and its people as the founding fathers truly care about the people and take care of them.
For the present batch of poodles, they are just too busy wasting tax payer's money learning hip hop instead of doing their job.
They have also shamelessly given a pay rise for job not done.
The job in the Middle East is supposed to be performed by the poodles, not Harry.
He should be resting at home now.
The peasants have already learned their lesson for the past few years that if they are not the elite, they will become the "no-body" that will be left behind. -
I think MM Lee gave a fair and general advise regarding the next direction where opportunities awaits for all Singaporeans especially for the business-class.
It should not be misinterpreted as an iron-fist order but an advisory remark.

Seriously, other than Mid-east, where else can we invest? Western countries are saturated and too many tariffs. Everyone is rushing into China. Only place is Mid-east where although is so messy we are sort of neutral party there.
Anyway, if you think I am very pro-govt, I can assure you I am not. But for what MM Lee has done and is doing, I is really respect him. If you see his interview, its like your grandfather who is really old, like 83yo but still working hard for your family. Of coz he got make mistake but he is not God. Sg newspaper is biased, so read everything wif a pinch of salt. I know coz I read many newspaper from many other countries. -

After thirty years of independence, and continuous monopolistic grip on political power, Animarl Farm atmosphere lingers over Singapore:

This can hardly be considered as flexibility "in the best interest of his people".
Singapore is an independent and sovereign country, but are Singaporeans truly living in "a sovereign, democratic and independent nation, founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of her people in a more just and equal society" as LKY had declared on the eve of Singapore being thrown out of Malaysia ?
Are we living in a country that bears any semblance of democracy other than in form and not in substance ?
Is there any justice and equality for those who cannot afford it, when Justice practised by the Singapore Judiciary is chargeable by the time expended, and with the widening incme gap ?
What principles of liberty and justice was LKY espousing on the eve of separation from Malaysia ?
Surely Chia Thye Poh, J.B.Jeyaratnam and CSJ have not seen any liberties nor justice prevailing ? -
It's the full spectrum of govt intervention that has led to the majority taking his words or any politicians words as the gospel truth.
They are politicians, we should not believe everything they say. -

is it because Singaporeans have a track record of following the leader, following the crowd ? .....
yes, I think perhaps this is the case ... herb mentality is too much of a Singaporean trait perhaps ... remember the time when bubble tea was "hot" and hundreds of people lost their pants because they thought investing in another bubble tea stand with already 15 others in a neighbourhood was entreprenuership ? .....
