say for PM:
30 X $1500 X 12mths = $540,000
This way, there will be less poor people, because they have to make the poor richer in order that they become richer.
Hehehe

Other Mindef and ST branches are offering similar packages which are sometimes far more attractive than the private sector.
So i don't really know who gets the idea that private sector companies pay better than the govt sector.
i'd like to stress on your last sentence.Originally posted by Hogzilla:Civil servants, rejoice!
A pay rise is expected next year when the private sector's average pay rise is about 3.3%.
Minister's pay is also expected to raise as well.
Now we know where the GST hike's money is going.....

They were hoping that the dead wood will resign but instead, it's the young, ambitious chaps with marketable skills that moved to the private sector where the pay is better. The old dead wood remained...they know they cannot find another job elsewhere and it is almost impossible to sack them in the civil service as long as they do not steal or commit a crime.Originally posted by the Bear:actually, there is a crapload of $$ left over when the ministries went on their misadventure for the past years trying to decrease headcount.. encouraging a lot of people to resign...
now they are stuck with insufficient manpower for a lot of places, the ministries are probably desperate and heck! civil servants are human too
Unfortunately, you are absolutely right. And the very presence of the deadwood demoralises those around them, which also contributes to people leaving the service. One guy told me "I'd rather go somewhere where you can actually be fired for incompetance and poor attitude than to continue putting up with this bullshit"Originally posted by oxford mushroom:They were hoping that the dead wood will resign but instead, it's the young, ambitious chaps with marketable skills that moved to the private sector where the pay is better. There's plenty of them further down the food chain too.Originally posted by the Bear:sadly, a lot of the true deadwood are the idiots up on top
