The weakness in the USD is based on the expectation that FED (US Central bank) is likely to lower their interest rate earlier than expected due to the recent weaker economic figures.
Asian currency such as Japanese Yen has strengthen to their 21/2 years high against the USD. Therefore SGD's strength against USD is basically in the line with the rest of the major Asian currency. -
I'm not by any far shot an economist, but I was watching CNN a while ago, and someone commented that the US dollar is falling against major currencies to make US exported goods cheaper to consume and thus go into paying off it's hefty trade and current account deficits.

Heard Central Banks has been major sellers last week. Sentiment is still very bearish for USD. actually the dropping of USD is gd for them..
as it brings more investors into their country..
it brings them more advt then disadvt in short.. -
Hmm.....It has its pros and cons. Weak USD can bring oversea monies into the country as form of investment thus creating jobs. It also helps to readjust global imbalances, making US produced goods more affordable.
However US as the major consumer market can cause an adverse effect on the countries who trade with them including Singapore in turn,slow down their economic growth. A depreciating USD also can exacerbate inflation fears,leading to higher interest rate,this in turn would weight on the stock market and it would also elevate recession risks.

Long term trend because US has a lot of deficit.
You can trade SGD but must find a broker/ dealer who trade it because it is not a major currency.
