You want to live in Malaysia when you retire?

Malaysians are generally happier than Singaporeans.
They earn less in $$ terms, but can afford larger houses and cars.
They face racial discrimination, but have affordable govt healthcare and education.
They got some clowns in power, but these clowns care for the masses.
So why don't I live in Malaysia? Because i have to take care of my parents in singaporeland, and i cannot speak Malay, thanks to the education system here which totally ignored the learning of the National Language.
You want to live in Malaysia one day when you retire? I do.....at lest for a few months each year, then a few months in Aussie land, then come back to Harry's land and gripe some more for a few months...... -
Are you a chinese? if you are living in malaysia shouldnt be a big problem. Just stay in one of those Chinese villages. i would probably want to retire in one of those countries where the temperature is cooler. I heard chiangmai can be quite cooling.

Yes, I've definitely considered. But if you emigrate to Malaysia, the govt won't allow you to withdraw all your cpf..... Perhaps Thailand will be nice. Pace of life's slower and exchange rate more favourable........

I'll most probably spend my old age in New Zealand. Maybe tour around Siberia and Mongolia for the fun of it, then back to New Zealand.

Malaysia, China, Australia, etc, etc....as long as there's place with fantastic FS, high-speed internet access and efficient transport system. -

I defintely will live in Malaysia after i retired. Live in a small town, cheap food, slow pace of life. Everything cheap. Got relatives every where.. can go back SG to visit my children easily. Can bribe police.. Why not?
Air fares are cheap, train and bus tickets are cheap, transport cheap.. dunwan pay toll go by main roads lor.. slow relaxing drive. Alot of places to visit when old.
Somemore exchange rate is good.. more value for your money when retired.. -
haha y not? Malaysia is not bad at all... They have an Iconic petronas tower, they have SEPANG F1 circuit.. which i like it and dream of... nice scenery on certain mountains.. cheap cars, road tax not as much like singapore... can afford big houses... correct.. low pace of life.. u can live there if u know-how to be a business man down there... if u wanna be popular... go to malaysia.. they can groom you!..absolutely nice country... but there's a pro & cons dats for sure...
But i wud really love to live in europe mainly switzerland village... very pieceful and very green country.. nice to live! -
when you retire to Malaysia,my advice is that you DO NOT buy a property there. Just rent one say in Port Dickson or near Malacca as the rental of those single storey terrace houses are cheap(not more tha S$100!). Stay there as long as you want and if you fancy another location like Penang, Lumut, Ipoh, Cameron Highland, Genting or KL,move where you want to go and rent a small flat for one or two hundred ringgits per month. Just move around any part of Malaysia until you 'jelak' then move on to another location without having to get stuck by owning a property in one location. To buy one property in Malaysia is very easy, just pay only!BUT when you want to sell it, you may have to wait until kingdom comes or you want to sell it half price!!!
Security is not a problem if you stay humble and be alert at all time. Talk and behave or dress like one of them and you are safe like another Malaysian!

No doubt China and Thailand have better exchange rates but it is too far and not convenient in case you feel home sick and decided to return!Your main intention is to stretch your S$$$$$ in case GST goes up to 10% and above!
Most middle income and lower income groups are feeling the heat in the past couple of years living in Singapore!Many are trying hard to keep their heads above water.
