Petronas Finds Oil And Gas Reserves In Johor Waters

JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- National oil company Petronas is believed to have made its first discovery of oil and gas reserves in the waters of Johor.
According to reliable sources, Petronas made the discovery of the two fuel resources in a coastal area east of Johor.
The sources said that Petronas recently had a briefing with Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman on the findings.
Abdul Ghani made an unofficial announcement of the findings during a Hari Raya gathering last week, organised by Umno (Pengerang Division), the sources said.
"The area (where the oil and gas were found) is believed to be more than 1,000 hectares. According to research, the oil and gas reserves from the area were of "significant amount," the sources told Bernama here Tuesday.
According to the sources, the whole area of the oil and gas discovery is divided into two areas coming under the jurisdiction of both the federal and state governments.
"The whole area is situated in Malaysia. It does not involve the waters of Indonesia or Singapore, and therefore the issue of ownership does not arise. It is ours," the sources said.

I think Singapore is already having it's expert to check the boundaries if it's confirmed an oil reserve being found. If the oil reserve is also part of our boundaries, we are also entitled to the oil.
It'll probably be another conflict again. -

This is very interesting! We may have a share on this oil and gas fields as we have the Pedra Branca situated in the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. However, this will have to depend on the judgement of ICJ over the Pedra Branca ownership. TIME FOR WAR! -
Yeah...it might be the same case as Timor Gap...the dispute on issue of oil extraction between Timor Leste and Australia's government.
Although the oil extraction was within the Australian territory but the oil rig is situated very near the boundary of Timor Leste...So Timor Leste's govt was sure that certain amount of crude oil would be drawn from their territory, and Timor Leste's govt would want to have reasonable amount of share of crude oil extraction.
This dispute had been dangling since year 2000, I don't know whether it has been resolved
I hope Singapore govt will put up a good fight against Malaysia if there are concrete evidence of oil are also found and will be drawn from our territory.
If that is the case......I hope this sg govt would do Singaporeans a big favor in return of giving genuine subsidys on our daily basic needs....NOT pretending that nothing had been happened and keep on sucking us dry to fatten their ''income'' and putting up excuses of that the COE or CEO will have to be answerable to its share holders....until today, I'm still very puzzle over who by individual owns the biggest shares GLC, Sinkaporepools???????????????????????????????????????? -
