Ridiculous High Salary May Not Attract Good People

A good minister will be one who will work to help the people, not for the sake of money. So why do we need $Million Minister?
So with this kind of HIGH salary (which is at least 2x-10x of any other country in this world) What kind of Ministers have we attracted?
Does that explain about the fare hikes? ultilities bills increase? GST 7%? MRT Suicide? NKF saga? Shin corp deal? and so many others...
High salary = no corruption, so that means other then Singapore, all the other countries are corrupted with corrupted ministers? If no, then why we need to pay so high? when i say high, it is super high.
Is it paying a minister 500k to 800K a year going to make his family go on without luxuries lifestlye?
If not, why cant they lower their salary to make it reasonable, why can't they show people that they wanted to be Minister in helping the people and not just all about money.
So, is Pap attracting the right people to run the ''country''..... ? What is the moral in managing and leading its people and taking care of the country? -

Look everyone knows that astronomical salaries are not needed to attract people of a high-calibre. Any fool can see that for some of the most brilliant minds in the world are not filthy rich.
Now if you are an organization whose raison de etre is to make money (like a comany for instance), and you want someone whose ethos matches that of your organisation IE someone who luuuuurves money and who exists solely to make more money, then yes a high salary is needed.
Of course the fact that a country is not a company seems to have eluded many people in Singapore....

The people that the Govt has chosen were already earning high salaries before joining politics. The Govt is merely making it worth their while by paying the equivalent of what they should/would be earning.

Like a company, those on top need a fat salary -
