Eh? You missed the point. By miles.Originally posted by ProGovt:The people that the Govt has chosen were already earning high salaries before joining politics. The Govt is merely making it worth their while by paying the equivalent of what they should/would be earning.
for goodness sake, the current payscale is already 7 figures, how much more do you need to be worth their while? as a govt, your priority is to serve, not to enrich yourselves. in developed countries, those who enter into politics are already earning good pay, you don't hear them whining about lower wages as politicians. the problem here is that political repression makes people, including those with talent unwilling to risk what they already have. unlike democratic and developed societies, politics is the right of every individual, not just a handful.Originally posted by ProGovt:The people that the Govt has chosen were already earning high salaries before joining politics. Tell us which ministers were already earning millions dollars before GOD sent him to be minister in Singapore Inc? Let's not count the '''elites''' from GIC or GLC or Tomasick!!!Originally posted by ProGovt:The people that the Govt has chosen were already earning high salaries before joining politics. Since the MPs are so die hard on getting high pay and they said the private sector pays them well, then why not they all go back to private sector?Originally posted by ProGovt:The people that the Govt has chosen were already earning high salaries before joining politics. I don't mind them all resigning. They can be quitters for all I care.
I am sure there are many who can fill in their shoes.

WTH!!!Originally posted by googoomuck:When the AVA said that it was rounding up stray cats in the wake of the Sars outbreak, Vivien Balakrishnan countered: 'We cannot make our environment too sterile. We need to improve our relationship with the living things around us.'

Cat killer ! This is something the eye surgeon will be remembered for.
As Ito_^ said - the question is wad we can do about it. What you can do about it?Originally posted by Lowclassman:A good minister will be one who will work to help the people, not for the sake of money. So why do we need $Million Minister?
So with this kind of HIGH salary (which is at least 2x-10x of any other country in this world) What kind of Ministers have we attracted?
Does that explain about the fare hikes? ultilities bills increase? GST 7%? MRT Suicide? NKF saga? Shin corp deal? and so many others...
High salary = no corruption, so that means other then Singapore, all the other countries are corrupted with corrupted ministers? If no, then why we need to pay so high? when i say high, it is super high.
Is it paying a minister 500k to 800K a year going to make his family go on without luxuries lifestlye?
If not, why cant they lower their salary to make it reasonable, why can't they show people that they wanted to be Minister in helping the people and not just all about money.
So, is Pap attracting the right people to run the ''country''..... ? What is the moral in managing and leading its people and taking care of the country?
Originally posted by pisces8:As Ito_^ said - the question is wad we can do about it. What you can do about it?
Get yourself attracted into the PAP, join in the system and work inside to improve it in running the "country"? Upheld the moral in managing and leading its people and taking care of the country?
he has 'eyes' for talents?Originally posted by the Bear:now he is a politician..
p.s. which begs the question: how good is an eye surgeon at governing?
it's like using a chisel for a hammer...
I believe the upright have to sacrifice himself/herself, to go into politic, to become politician and to deal with "politicians". Or else what can we do to put right what is wrong?Originally posted by the Bear:does anyone who is upright want to have anything to do with the politicians?
Can you tell LKY what he had done wrong and put it right?Originally posted by pisces8:I believe the upright have to sacrifice himself/herself, to go into politic, to become politician and to deal with "politicians". Or else what can we do to put right what is wrong?
