SM Goh wants singaporeans to feel homely and maintain links to singapore when they are abroad. He do not want situation where singaporeans migrate and forget their roots.
Hmm.. this 2 weeks after announcing GST Hike 5 months after election and claiming that they announce it because PAP is an honest government.
Maybe he should first justify why we seem to be the only country in the world to have Senior Minister and Minister Mentor. -

Because Singaporean (or should I said, people from all around the world) are very forgetful and always forget whatever thing other people said, so some people will say particular things that suits them at that particular time.

The government always say if we dont keep the taxes low for the elites they will leave Singapore. This kind of policies will make Singaporeans more pragamatic. I think Singaporeans are practical. If the conditions are better, they are ready to give up citizenship anytime. Besides after years of authoritarian government, Singapore has failed to develop an identity and root its people

In fact many singaporeans hold a second citizenship.
It is not illegal for a singaporean to hold a 2nd citizenship, it is just that Singaproe DOES NOT recognise dual citizenship.
meaning, that if you are dual national and in Singapore, you are not protected as a citizen of your 2nd citizenship. And you might just have your singapore citizenship revoked.
And there are some cases where professional singaporeans who wants to migrate and renounce singapore citizenship. But their application to renounce is denied and is allowed to keep both citizenships. -
I strongly think that they are too busy and they get the sequence wrong... hahaha
I believe price hike across the board and higher salaries for civil servants are already on the government's agenda... Just that they announced it a bit too early for the 2% hike in GST...
The correct sequence should be:
commodities price hike -> higher salaries -> gst hike -> STI heavy-weights companies doing well-> life-style products price hike -> higher salaries -> further price hike..... until China slows down... -
Our almighty gov., should for once in their lifetime, LOOK at themselves in the mirror first - before making statements like this about us.
All that people want, are ways to make a living, and the ability to meet living costs.

make sure if the person taking over the baton is of a certain standard before passing..
given MM Lee's high standard, now the current Ministers are still not up to the standard yet..so have to wait.
it's not he don't want to pass, it's the ministers not working hard enough to get the to top to fit into the standard MM Lee is looking for.
New younger Leaders are aslo 'CMI' case
so have to select and train carefully already...
you have to think carefully before you make any comments.
