Statues cost money and need money to be maintained. Singapore doesn't follow such stances of erecting landmarks that don't bring in cash.

I tot its self delusional to think one is great enough to have a statue dedicated to oneself and order one to be made and setup in commemoration of one's deeds.
Anyways the moment our currency change to show president faces, I am just waiting for LKY face to be stuck to my arse in the wallet. -

Don't believe everything of what they say
When they first announce the 7% GST, they said it is to help the lower income.
Now they say it is for this and that, including the "unknown unknowns".
When they erect something for somebody....eventually they are going to build a big one for themselves lah. -
put up statues must got seh one...like those European countries, got those old old statues, turn green with age type, give the whole city a very arty cultured look macham rich in culture like that. But hor, Europe those cities always statues in middle of the road, and road small small, cause traffic jams.
But singapore ? I doubt, dun scarely put in the middle of the road become eye sore and worse, later genna rammed by cars.
I think can put those ex-ministers loh, all line up along Singapore River facing the parliment building...haha. -
not only tt. yesterday papers oso say tt road names and buildings be change and name after them...shows that they want to be remembered forever as so called "noble" and as "pioneers".

I think the statue thingy is another of those detractors our govt is throwing in to make ppls forget the 7% GST. When the statue is erected, all our newspaper will run a 5 page coverage on the statue so SGreans can bask in the "glory" of the country under their "elite" leadership.

A statue erected represent a dynasty or an era. The moment the bust was busted, it was the end of a dynasty or era. Look at the destruction of Saddam's statue in Iraq. -
