the govt takes quite a big cut of the tickets sales. The winnings we get are only a small percentage. so after I know this, I stopped buying 4D cause the chances of winning is low. The only thing is did was to return more money to the govt.
In a fair gamble, like the toss of a coin, if you buy $1 heads, the payout should be $2, which means if you buy both heads and tails to win at $2, the toss of the coin resulting in heads would mean they pay you $2, resulting in neither gain or loss.
In a game of 4D, say you buy all the possible number of combinations from 0000 to 9999 (10,000 combinations all Big bets), which cost like $10,000. When you strike all the numbers, you will only get like
1st Prize----: $2,000
2nd Prize---: $1,000
3rd Prize-----: $ 490
Starter-------: $2,500 (10 prize of $250)
Consolation-: $ 600 (10 prize of $60)
==================
Total Prize : $6,590
==================
You pay $10,000 for all the bets, but only get back $6,590.
This is like playing a game of coin toss, where you pay $1 for a bet, when you win they will only pay you $1.318 instead of $2.
Only get back 65.9% instead of getting back 100%!!!
It's a negative sum game!!!
