You too? Spoilt the vote?Originally posted by mistyblue:I crossed both out... Still it came out to be strong mandate. I think it will always be strong mandate. I have come to the point of just feeling disgusted and disappointed with my fellow people when they complain.
I watched 7 samurai, in the village there was this person who was always ready to swing vote, betray, speak loudly of fears and doomsday prophecy and others will blindly follow.
Then there are promised incentives such as upgrading, progress shares, package give outs and etc. I hear my MIL always praise endlessly the current party. She gloated me when the party she voted won and believe there will be more money to take from them (how silly). She obviously do not want to know the truth. I hear from my parents who lived through British rule and also post WWII, during independence and the struggle. The only comment I got was to be very weary of the first family. All my parents felt was the current party and the GLCs, subsidaries they spun off are killing all small businesses and preventing free market and a small way for people to make a living.

if we don't have the spine to go our own way.. we get... your way.. which is to become subservient to another...
so.. i guess you are choosing continued slavery under another master..
well, you go your way then...
US is a realist. Is there oil in Singapore?Originally posted by ShutterBug:If enough people spoil their votes, they'll get the message...
they can't penalize thousands of people... the world will see their ugliness and they'll face pressure from USA and all other Human Rights countries!!!
The first STEP in all that you mentioned, begines with NOT OWING THEM THE VOTES in GEs to come......Originally posted by mistyblue:US is a realist. Is there oil in Singapore?
Are US MNC complaining about bad treatment or issues?
Why should anyone care about Singapore and its system when its benefiting all the rich people out there. Our case is not an outright, visible case of exploitation like the child labours, or the third world labours. In addition, there are so much smoke and media block, so little crediable information and zero transparency.
Take NKF. For many years, NKF operated in the manner - cheap and con people. When the plumber came forward about the gold tap (he had to publish a public apology - was he compensated now - should he now engage a lawer to sue TT for slander like LKY?). How many believed it and how many dismiss him? When people bring up suspecious points about NKF - such as qualification for dialysis, cost of dialysis with NKF being more expensive, etc... How many people got blasted down. How many people just want to go on believing that perhaps one day NKF will correct its accounts or NKF is always doing the right thing - even if its misusing funds, its still doing good things for the rich people who can afford their dialysis.
I am therefore not optimistic. I am sure we will keep hearing about strong mandate till I (my great great great (x1000) grand children) die and never see my CPF, nor ever hear about the funds that LHL keep collect ever be used for any terrible future event that happens to Singapore.
its not even illegal hawking. Look at the small provisions shops, getting smalling and closing down.Originally posted by onceinabluemoon:You too? Spoilt the vote?
agree wholeheartedly with the second part of your comment... in most countries, hawking is illegal but the police close an eye because "people have to make a living.."
Here in Sgp they relentlessly want to make you their coolies... and always stay a coolie generation after generation...
the way to make you their coolie is to take away any excess money you have...
UK has the Freedom of information Act and Singapore has the Official Secrets Act... u said: Why should anyone care about Singapore and its system when its benefiting all the rich people out there... Don't forget that Petrol Kiosks used to be run by private families...Originally posted by mistyblue:its not even illegal hawking. Look at the small provisions shops, getting smalling and closing down.
All over Singapore you see NTUC, Sembawang Corp, JTC, starhub, recycling, even coffin, insurance companies and etc - all somehow linked to first family and their spun off lines of business. Govt outsourced, first family spun off 'private' business' to catch these opportunities. So what is left for anyone? Who can beat these giants?
But singaporeans do not have any breathing space. Neither can they dream of becoming someone. They can only dream of maybe having a decent, quick death without any burden to their next generation (if any because its too stressful to even give birth) and hope there is some little space left for their ashes to be placed in some holy-placed...
I agree with you... slow and steady... I think that the casino shows that they have run out of ideas and have to resort (I! RESORT) to desperate means... will backfire because many people will start to hear and know of friends and family members with gambling problems.Originally posted by the Bear:i have, with your arguments..
you seem to be skewed the same way JBJ is.. anything against the present gabrament, no matter how stupid, how insane, how destructive, how screwed up, is good in your eyes..
that is the way to destruction, but i don't think you care.. as long as the present lot is taken down..
that makes you same as the gabrament you rail against... where the ends seem to justify any means to you.. even if it means the mental and psychic enslavement of a people..
think before you speak..
