Looking at the 2% “only” GST increase

Despite all the statistics paraded by the Ministry of Health of how health-care here is affordable and despite the relentless propaganda in the government mouthpieces; the saying that it is better to die than to fall ill in Singapore refuses to go away.
Sometimes propaganda just cannot do it. The MOH looks only at the cost of visiting the hospitals and clinics. The citizens look at their situation in total. If you take into account everything, it is indeed better for the majority of Singaporeans to die than to fall seriously ill.
If you convert the 2% of GST increase into absolute amounts, it is “peanuts”. If you look at your present situation and factor in an increase of 2% in GST, it becomes alarming. The government should stop looking at price increases in isolation but the government should factor in the whole nine yards. Life in Singapore is already onerous without the marginal increases.
