I was wondering, what will happen IF say 60% of Singaporeans are as capable and draw as much as 771k and above per year??

Why are they earning $1m a year minimum? -
embarrassed to admit i actually was an intern in an IB for 3 months.
was in the US finishing my msc and applied as intern. i was doing back end stuff and was plotting charts for this young banker (30+) and we became friends. but seeing how he lived i don't wanna be in his shoes for a million $. we made some scenario analysis and he had to make the call at any hour of the day to maximise returns. any event that impacted the market has to be analysed, be it OPEC cut production or microsoft bought over some website whether day night weekday weekend even when in WC. you can imagine what kind of life that is. talk to him also his thoughts will be elsewhere. the clients would call up 'how's my money doing? did you take advantage of xyz incident?' and to them you're like flies around their pie. you don't tell him you're on leave or in hospital or anything. its like the bank owned his life. one bad call and he's out the door. a few months after my intern finished got an email saying he's fired. -

Honestly, it is much cheaper if you simply cut down on the things you want and change your perception towards them. Do you really need to eat at fancy restaurants every other day? Do you really need that new PSP or Plasma TV?
Besides, the price to pay (time and at the beck and call of your clients) is justified by the amount of money the guy in the article earns. -
Money is not everything, if you measure happiness or success with money, then you are lacking in some areas. How can a person be happy if he only has 10 million dollars when he expected to have 15 millions? I failed a few biz ventures before, lost money and time, and now i'm starting all over again on a few biz and try again, revenue isn't great, but the satisfaction & fulfilment is fantastic. I do not have qualifications to make those kind of money, but with and in what I know, I am still a self-made man with ability to run my own show and survive, outside of the so called GREAT education system. I make more than the average or high income.
I am ranting because I watch and hear my friends and acquaintances cry in misery, to a heartless, and money-crazed gov!!! -
After being in Singapore for so long, I must say working in Bangkok is certainly a breather.
People who are envious of the low cost of living in Bangkok must think again. They actually earn less (much less), so technically their cost of living is same as that in Singapore. However what make Bangkok much different from Singapore is basically the increase, inflations don't come as fast and furious as in Singapore.
Our government is smart, they know singaporeans only can complain in coffee shop... nothing else. Try that in other countries and TAH-TAH, you get a new government in the next elections. They give out "freebies" to tide people over the tax increases... smart move. It's like me giving you free drugs, knowing that you will need to buy from me when your kick comes...
I was only in Bangkok for 2 months and I've heard that the GST and transport fares are up. Mmh is there anything else I am missing? Except for my family, not much I guess. -

Actually not really heartless govt ba, compare to others, our is quite ok. These are money, they gives us the opportunities to earn that much if you can, they never force anyone to work there.
Would you rather have the opportunities to earn so much rather than being poor in some countries without knowing how to earn these bucks in your whole life? -

Guys,guys....please do not envy these people. They do have a tough life and really work hard for every penny they get.
I know it becos I once earned above 100+ k per year but now I am almost penniless. I was out of job due to a major global takeover last year. As a 40+ person, I decided to start my personal trading but after a few bad call, I was badly hit and decided to call it a day. Then I realised that many of the traders of like me are at the verge of bankruptcy,some even start a career of a taxi driver.
This is not like of a MP's job where you can almost consider it as an '"iron rice bowl career", it is really a survival of the fittest. If you can perform,you will be well rewarded else out you go.
The joke here is even we have more 500k in our CPF yet, we cannot use it when we need it most till 20 years later.
