I have several colleauges from Malaysia n Indonesia. I asked them got any plan to settle in Spore permanently, they said no cause they planned to get PR only cause of the CPF contribution. U can imagine how much they can get if they worked here for a couple of years. -

That's why I don't believe their bull-crap about how you should upgrade yuurself to stay employable - it doesn't work!!!
It's easy for the government to come up with simplistic solutions like advocating Self-Upgrading. But has it been proven that it WORKS?
Personally, I use my own instinct; I work and progress OUTSIDE of the stupid gov's suggested system! I survived up till now!

Singapore is too small to support the growing nos. of middle management ppl.
It's better to save up when u r young now and avoid long term commitment like HDB loan. The good time for Singapore had past, face the fact that job is difficult to find here for high paid professional. The only way is to lower expectation and life still goes on. Enough of hearing the problem the gahment had, we can't expect them to spoon feed us. The crisis we r facing is a long term one, I dun expect the good time to come back again. -

I m very suprised ST revealed this fact/truth!!!!
We hve a frd who has a master degree but has 2 work as a Enviroment Health officer on a 3 months contract in NEA for S$4.5 per hour and a security guard at 9 on a part time basic to earn S$1,200 in Spore!!!!His take home pay by working more than 16 hours a day is less than S$2000 per month which is worst than my salary earned 22 yrs ago when I worked as a junior Q.S.
But cost of living now is more than 3 times in 1980s i.e when we brought a 4 NG flat at HG in 1984 at S$50k but is S$170K at Puggol now!!!
If u r 45 yrs and above,then I said no hope lah in Spore even u hve a higher degree !!!!!!My frd hve 2 support 2 children in school and eat instant mee and bread almost every day to survive,

In working environment, we follow a very simple rule which is the pyramid rule.
The top of the pyramid is always the narrowest,and the bottom which is us are all trying to climb to the top for survival.If u cannot get to the top,either u hide elsewhere or fall off from the pyramid.
Its sort of disheartening to see such a fact,but what to do..living condition and standard are getting higher each day,( imagine i can spend $10 dollar on public transport each day)..
As for the middle-aged, i think if realli canot find a job,u can try jobstreet.com.haiz...
