A 'choice' made is not concluded by the done deal nor to have to live wi the consequence necessitate thereafter and it also does not illicit the right of reserve not to make informed choices in the future. The other side, i.e. PAP, is trying its best to give you no choice.
You have the right to choose. You have chosen.
Do you have a choice? You have chosen.
Do you want to choose? You have chosen.
The Chosen One is chosen by those who choose not to choose.
What is there any more to say or any more to choose?
Without being voted by the people and shown a proper succession in the PM's seat which means that not majority of people will recognize him and give him the blessing to rule. When this happen how can it be consider just? Have you not heard a saying: “Authority founded on injustice is never of long duration.”?Originally posted by (human):Li Ao said Singaporeans are stupid. I think not...Originally posted by av98m:Short term memory, greed, kiasuism, kiaseeism, ignorance and fear will gaurantee the PAP a majority win for many more general elections to come.

There's no "Fairness" in Politics. "Fairness" is juz to impress , given to the public in the publicity reports.Originally posted by ShutterBug:When every move the opposition wish to make, requires a PERMIT of sorts, how are they to 'take on' as you say, the almighty ruling party?
When every avenue for the opposition is blocked, how are they to do so?
Rules and regulations are made by the ruling party and are made in their favor, what chances does ANY opposition have?
It is like, you enter a battle arena, and you find your opponent is in armour suit amd is armed with a long broad sword, and you are only allowed to wear a pair of sandlas, shorts and a singlet. Your weapon, a twig from a nearby tree branch....
How's that for "fairness"?
Given the way the system is set up, we are unlikely to see any opposition party make much of a dent in the incumbent. What we need is for the PAP to self-destruct from within. A possible scenario is a sizable number of PAP MPs who deep down inside hate Lee Junior's guts breaking away and forming their own party, after LKY dies. Then we may finally have a strong alternative to the ruling party.Originally posted by ShutterBug:I think not...
The future will see more and more people like CSJ.
How long can a human last, even as King?
Even the tallest and oldest will eventually fall.
NOTHING, can ever last for eternity - good, or bad...
Yep, you're probably right.Originally posted by av98m:Given the way the system is set up, we are unlikely to see any opposition party make much of a dent in the incumbent. I don't rule out the PAP refusing to recognise the results of a GE if they lose, and trying to mobilise the military or their gurkhas to hold on to power. After all, they are pretty supportive of the military junta in Myanmar. LKY himself said that he might used the army to prevent what he calls a "freak election result" However, since ours is a citizen army, it might backfire on the PAP if they were to try this tactic.![]()
You can never convince me that our dear PM became a brigadier general before the age of 32 through meritocracy. Or that he is in fact the best candidate for the PM's post.Originally posted by (human):Meriticracy is not that bad some time, but people who want to cover up nepotism using the word meritocracy is really disgusting. Do you agree with that?
Oh man...Originally posted by (human):Lee hsien loong is holding the position of PM and the position of minister of finance. Do you think through meritocracy one person can hold two such important positions at one time?
I somehow agree to what you say.Originally posted by bila_prem:A matter of fact, Singapore is under the hands of the lee family which is in power for 40 years. Be it LKY or Lee Hsien Loong. Even Temasek holdings and other semi-government firms are in the hands of the lee family. Aren't we under the hands of the communist society? Are we communist? Why are there cover-ups and other undertable lobangs in singapore government? Why can't we choose? Why can't we speak up? Its because singaporeans are scared. Cowardly society led the politicians to climb on top of our head. What is national service for? What is national service for the white horses? We are being treated unfairly.
I want you and everyone else here to know; YES, there are capable and sharp minded potential oppositions watching and waiting for the right moment.Originally posted by CM06:I know how you feel.
BUT here's a better question is there anyone else who can run this country better(credentials credentials) at this moment and AM WILLING to do it?
Poor people like you and me can just hope things dont get too bad. Tide it day by day.
If the PAP hunt from the private sector, how different will the other parties be?Originally posted by CM06:Frankly, tell me are these opposition people able to run a government/have experience to run it? Not to put you down but this process of "running" a government cannot have any "oops".
I just have the impression PAP headhunt from all the private sectors' smart people. From what you say i'm most likely wrong.
Do tell us more. What you said might as well not be said if you dont have more information.
Exactly PAP hunts and Oppo Party Hunts the same. If one side pays more which side would you go? The chance to do good now vs the chance to do something when they win in forever?Originally posted by LazerLordz:If the PAP hunt from the private sector, how different will the other parties be?
Think about it. Businessmen and industrialists out there outperform our ministers every day.
