Scrap the death penalty. The prospect of detention without trial is enough to deter.
haha, it's purely rhetorical. I'm sure the higher-ups in CNB could dream, couldn't they?Originally posted by the Bear:and who are we that other countries allow CNB to arrest people abroad?
Unless Sg becomes a superpower country like USA otherwise yr suggestion is only a dream loh!!!Originally posted by LazerLordz:The ISA should be used against big-time drug dealers and mobsters. The only gribe i have with the ISA is that the act should be tweaked to permit a neutral body to moderate the ISA enforcers to ensure it is not being misued or abused.Originally posted by LazerLordz:We should amend the ISA to limit it to terrorism-related activities.
The issue of triad activity has been covered by the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Act.

ISA only works if the govt behind it is benevolent enough to ensure its impartiality. In the past, the ISA has been the victim of political motivation and definitely not National security.
The ISA is certainly less restrictive than the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions). The latter is good enough for our small-time juvenile secret society members but there will be many times when dealing with the mafia that insufficient evidence has arisen or it is not in the public interest to reveal sensitive information to the Review Board that might jeopardise future action. I think the ISA may be useful as a second line legal instrument against mobsters who might be tempted to operate in our casinos.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The ISA should be used against big-time drug dealers and mobsters.
