Anyone heard of a new special naval warfare unit of RSN ?

It was featured during last year's navy open hse. They were wearing the same outfit as US Navy Seals and were demonstrating boarding and storming a ship loaded with terrorists.

If I am correct, it is a branch of NDU and it is Spore's first dedicated shipboarding and maritime CT unit. However, there isn't much information about this unit and it's existence is shrouded with much secrecy that SOF looks just like a regular unit.

It was also reported in the papers and shown on TV.

Underwater reconnaissance group (UWRG)...I think. Similar to SEALs and SBS and maybe to Israeli naval commandos.

How accurate is your source? Maybe it's just a one off thing? Or cross trained NDUs?And who would be training them? -
No idea how accurate this is. I managed to get hold of this bit of info from a diver friend. But that was 2 years back. Will appreciate it if someone else can enlighten me more on this. I am not surprised that all these are still under wraps. It is just the same for some recon units in infantry. Sometimes on exercise with other units, the officers don't even know that such a recon unit does exist. SOF is another example, it was completely shrouded in secrecy for 10 years.

well, if you guys saw last yr's NDP........those guys (I suppposed) were on the Mobile column featured under Navy........they were donning black outfit......and jockey helmet..............

The unit is equivalent to what the RMN has in their special naval unit which has demonstrated sometime back their capabilities in shipboarding as well as maritime CT.......it was reported in their local newspapers...............

If the unit has demonstrated to the public during Navy open hse, dun understand why the existence of the unit is unknown to all.................was told of the name of the unit but cannot recall.....it was Team something...............

Being a major port in the region, it would be foolish not to have such unit.
