They are here, because of our exchange rates, and yes money is their success. And when they have made enough, they'll go home to undertake the second half of their journey to success - not here.
They are all over the world not just only here, it's just that there are more coming here because of language.
For them to stay, I believe most would choose America for the size and freedom.
As it is, a lot of foreigners can see how living costs can become impractical if they choose to become citizens.
No worries, eventually their own country's inflation will make not worth their while to come here, and offer cheap labor. Soon manufacturers will need to setup factories elsewhere when China, becomes too expensiove to operate.

There's no free lunch. Don't patronise us by trying to appeal to ties to China that are not there anymore. Don't throw sour faces if we talk to you in English, because not every Singaporean is Chinese. -

Im gettin so sick of people sayin our ancestors are from China etc. Yes i know that, but it's dumb to use that in a arguement. We have evolve so much & now we have our own culture & "language," Singlish lol. Singapore is a country on its own now, & for all i care, i am a Singaporean, not a China citizen.
If you watch discovery channel, they did say all humans originated from Africa or something, but did you see all of us goin around & argue with that? -

UK offers higher pay abut taxes more. Each man must decide for himself where he can get a better deal, depending on his profession and tax bracket. Singapore is a good place to live and bring up children. It is a good place to work for most people, but if you have a skill that is paid more somewhere else at this point in your career, there's no reason why you shouldn't go.
British workers face competition for their jobs from Polish workers as much as Singaporeans have to compete with Indians and PRCs. The job goes to the best person who can handle the work for the least pay. If you cannot compete, you lose out, whether it is in Singapore, the UK or Hong Kong. -
Simple...acquire the qualifications that are essential for the job that the Chinese and Indians do not have. Oh, they will take up the qualifications in time, no doubt about that. So I just have to continue to upgrade my skills and keep acquiring new skills to keep a step ahead. Ya... I also feel that they are swarming Singapore and I do feel threatened by having my rice bowl taken away from them. Every single one of them in my office carries at least a Master degree and these Master degree are from NUS hor not bluff bluff one! Some more got one seems to be a talented individual who graduated early by 2 years! But I don't like to work with them and maybe lucky thing is that they very cha gong and seems to be only the study type!
Other than seeing them in my office... I also see them a lot in the area where I live! There are the hookers who are damn nuisance and eyesore. They walk on the road like nobody business ignoring my car horns even! I almost feel like driving into them!!! In Sheng Shiong, they can very rude and pushes around or knock into u without apologising at all! I also remember a bad pushing accident in the zoo by an old China lady and I couldn't take it and commented right away at her rudeness! Imagine she was impervious and continue to charge her way through!
Of course there are friendly ones that I have met in both my office and my living vicinity but the bad ones are really quite a handful!
Alamak fellow Singaporeans go bear more children lar, I would prefer to hang out with more Singaporeans than these China immigrants. -

Of course ppl from China will compete with you for jobs. I worked in a company that hires more than 85% of foreigners - Mainland Chinese, Philippina, Indonesians, Malaysians, Burmese, Israeli, Pakistani, etc. Singaporeans are actually a minority in this company. The boss is always looking for ways to reduce costs and increase profits. Otherwise, why would he hire foreigners in the first place? He has foreigners in almost all positions - accountants, engineers, IT support, purchasing, sales, marketing, etc.
There was a time when he hired more than the required number of people in my department. I'm an engineer and the only Singaporean in this department. The rest are foreigners. As you know, if you hire a Singaporean, you could probably hire at least two foreigners (talent or not). Not long after a new foreign engineer joined my department, I was told to leave. He was willing to accept a wage lower than me.
My fellow Singaporeans, the day has arrived for foreigners to take away your rice bowls just like it did in my case. If you do not believe what I said, you could apply for jobs at Esco Micro Pte Ltd, work there and find out for yourself whether you see more foreigners than Singaporeans. The company is founded by a Singaporean.
I do not know about other companies though. Maybe you would like to list them here so that I will never apply to such companies in the future. Thank you.
