Killing people over trivial matters happens everywhere. But does the 'person' from 'that other country', have the right to kill another person over work-related differences??? Are we talking about RIGHTS? Or is there some kind of Culture Clash? Maybe in their homeland it is norm to kill another over personal or work-related differences???
Oh ok.. I guess we should just accept the fact that it will become the norm here, and just let it become a rampant act among 'those nationals'....I won't say what national or race, I'll just let what the media publishes detail their most common foreign origins.Originally posted by iveco:Killing people over trivial matters happens everywhere. U remember the Kallang body parts murder? The victim is from China n theOriginally posted by ShutterBug:Oh ok.. Apparently the two of them had some kind of affair going on. Scandalous.Originally posted by will4:U remember the Kallang body parts murder? The victim is from China n the
murderer is a local.
I read the local guy tried to take money away from the victim.Originally posted by iveco:Apparently the two of them had some kind of affair going on. Scandalous.![]()
I'm sure you are not trying to blame every pissed-on lift in S'pore on the China-born, are you?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Ok, do you piss in the elevators? I'm sure you do not fit the profile of one who does, and certainly neither do I and all of us in here.
Point is WE HAVE come some ways, and while THEY, are still at START.
Took very little to push him over the edge? How little? Any more details of the case?Originally posted by ShutterBug:*sigh*
The Kallang Case, is a sad one... I expect this case to be brought up in discussion here.
Well the local man was pushed to the edge where he lost he senses and thus resorted to such a horrific act. He was made a thoroughbred local fool, but personally, I wonder what the hell is a married guy like him doing fooling around with a China girls? Doesn't he know that there are marriage scams, and what nought involving China girls???
Now, I am NOT saying that the local culprit in this instance, has any right to take the China woman's life, but in contrast with the recent restaurant killing, it took very little to push the kitchen helper into such a vicious act.

I think one of the hallmark of someone 'civilised' and/or 'cultured' is tolerence. If you can't tolerate those amonst us who are different, then perhaps the problem is YOU, not them.

so who are you upset with? The PRCs, or the govt? Or the entire world?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Blame a China-born for pissing in elevators? No of course not! They are probably capable of more than just piss! hahahahaaa....Kidding..
I know for a fact, local kids, and the illiterates are the culprits - but how come we still have illiterates since we are First World Class?? ...hmmm...
Tolerance???
Now, how tolerant are our neighboring countries towards us (and our gov)? The HAZE from Indonesia (who are now even considering banning granite after sand) were tolerated basically because it is a huge uncontrollable problem in Indonesia - its people.
the rest of them have less problems fitting in, whereas most PRC nationals want to stand out and scream for bleddy attention in broad daylight, like as if they are superior or whatever nonsense.Originally posted by soul_rage:so who are you upset with? The PRCs, or the govt? Or the entire world?
You don't seem to be only upset with PRCs.
And as I said, its not only the PRCs that are coming here, but Indians, Indonesias, Filipinos, etc.
True, this is one point common in them...Originally posted by LazerLordz:the rest of them have less problems fitting in, whereas most PRC nationals want to stand out and scream for bleddy attention in broad daylight, like as if they are superior or whatever nonsense.
I am not against globalization, and FTs coming here (but I am against our gov's blindness to the many displaced local employees).Originally posted by soul_rage:so who are you upset with? The PRCs, or the govt? Or the entire world?

Now I can understand. True, the govt is ignoring the singaporeans who are being displaced by the FTs.Originally posted by ShutterBug:I am not against globalization, and FTs coming here (but I am against our gov's blindness to the many displaced local employees).
To me, these Indian, Western, Malaysian, Japanese, FTs are like butterflies bees and humming birds. But the influx of PRCs, are like FLIES!
Whatever the nationality they are, just come here and make your money peacefully and leave or stay. Fine. But don't behave like 'those nationals' who often end up on the front pages of our local papers!! And or basically be a pain to live side-by-side with!!
Upset? I'm beyond and over with UPSET...
- > annually, ever increasing living costs explained away with bland excuses
- > to help the poor a 2% increase in GST was set in motion(???)
- > bilateral ties with neighbors - screwd... no sand, no granite, satelite
must be returned to Thailand..etc
- > after so many locals displaced by FTs, gov only just now begin move
get employers to hire older locals either by incentives or by rule - too
little too late..
- > gov blind to the many vices and crimes big or small largely committed
by influx of PRCs
Tell me, which do you think I WAS upset over? I run my own little business, I hire locals EXCLUSIVELY. I have turned away approximately 150 PRC applicants! Now I am taking the show elsewhere!
Personally, I've given up really... cause I'm already effectively leaving this country where the gov doesn't or did little to help its people feel belonged and older locals needed....
I second this.Originally posted by soul_rage:This is what I dislike about how our govt is opening our doors. Give us a chance, don't make silly assumptions. Its like the kid outside the door saying your son is useless, he is better, and you believe him.
The sad part is, our govt thinks our people are incapable of doing what these FTs can do, or are convinced by these contract companies that we Singaporeans cannot do what they do.
And, give the PRCs a chance. Many of them are nice people. As always the minority makes the majority look bad.Aye.. we shdn't discriminate against them blindly.. we'd be just as bad as the ignorant sort of "elites" many of us loathe
Anyone had this experience? I am a guy and I was once stopped by a China woman. Nope but I have a male colleague who married a well-educated China-born lady.. I've met her and she's a very decent, kind lady.. but she gets harrassed and insulted by Singaporean men constantly in public! She's had to lodge police reports several times for serious cases.. she's really got a very bad impression of our country now.Originally posted by 00011000:Anyone had this experience? Also, there are some China aunties, study mamas I guess. The way they looked at me - long, stare. I felt very uncomfortable. I mean I don't even showed interest in them in the first place.
Anyone had such experience?
Well, I sympathise with her, but if we do not sieve out the bad hats, proper immigrants like her will suffer in the end.Originally posted by spinsugar:Nope but I have a male colleague who married a well-educated China-born lady.. I definitely agree that we need to set more stringent immigration rules, and tighter rules for our working FTs. Right now Singapore's legs have literally been spread for the foreigners. Our National shame!Originally posted by LazerLordz:Well, I sympathise with her, but if we do not sieve out the bad hats, proper immigrants like her will suffer in the end.
So why should we accept these mediocre foreigners just to justify a primarily cost-structure form of competitiveness? We need more stringent character tests and skill tests to ensure that these immigrants that we accept, are of extremely good standing and possess saliently rare skills comparatively.
If we let the cost-structure become the basis of our economy, then we are doomed.
