From ECP tanah merah alone to ECP Sheares alone has 4 golf courses, this is excluding golf courses in changi village
i m not against recreational activities, but 4 golf courses alone in the eastern coastline ? and i dun think golf is a acitivity which is reachable to the the general community, given the user per sq feet i would think its not "land effective", cos the area itself could bery well house a few thousand pple in a small estate?
so given the land, rather than use for housing, which is the basic necessities for living, its used for a sport for the rich
i dun think pple will mind if its used as a nature reserve, at least to balance out the "urban-lisation" or used as an extension of east coast park for more healthy activities for the general public
and yet another plan was unveiled for a new SAFRA Jurong, as if the current Cheverons in Jurong town hall is fake, and i would already think these clubs are under utilised
during my active duty , i have been to Cheverons for official business during office hrs, its not suprising to see many COL and SWO drinking away happily in uniform during office hrs
and a very interesting encounter with a particular famous RSM , seemingly drunk n shouting like a madman scolding vulgarities in the main lobby with a wine glass in the right hand
tax free alcohol, can drink during office hrs, higher than industry pay,

Just look at Google Earth and zoom into sinkapore. You will see many big big goft course meant for the rich. -

Sound implusive and inhumane.........and...FY
Saying rich people know heaven and earth of the loop holes by making themselves richer.
The poors are something... like deserved to be poor.
Now, for the rich they can afford best education, best opportunities in exploring the world, socialised with upper class or more educated people...thus gaining the best knowledge in management of whatsoever...
The poors...they do not have the opportunities on all the above-mentioned.
They might have difficulties in further studies to Pre-U, Universities or even Poly.......and of course, the poors are also very prone to be influenced by the low or non-educated people around them.
Here, I think we should have an open heart to understand the poors. Instead of despising on them.......
The background of the poors do not upbring them to have analytical mind like you do.
They can't be suddenly become brilliant and superb in management of wealth.
There's nothing much that we could do to help or getting them to understand circumstances of the livelihood that the trend is heading in singapore or world.
Bill Gates, Li kah Shing, Shaw Brothers and other world famous rich are NOT despising on poor people...instead they are donating billions of dollars to help them. (who are you in comparing with these rich and famous)
So far...I have not heard of our super rich ministers or one of the World Top Ten Most Powerful women donating or giving a thought of helping the poors.
They are illuded by $$$, power and fame.
Rightfully, the rich government should assist the poors more instead of just concentrating on boosting economy, enriching themselves, keep increasing taxes, govt services and etc.
I suggest that those poeple who despise on the poors be quiet and get on with their own business. -
Estate Duty is payable on the aggregate market value of all Singapore assets (both immovable and moveable) and movable assets outside Singapore of a deceased person at the date of death. His land and buildings (immovable property) outside Singapore are not liable to duty.
I don't really understand this thread... If you invest your money on land in singapore, u r still liable for estate tax. It is only when u invest in land overseas then u r not liable for it. However u still have to pay estate tax to that other country from where u buy for the land. In the end there is no tax exempt... tat guy still have to pay tax for everything right ? -

I'm very sorry to give you a reality check... It has nothign about discrimination nothing about shaming the poor or what... but sorry walk out of your house and take at look at the real world... The smart, intelligent and rich rules... not the poor... That's the fact of live. The rich has their contribution to society and many of them got it by their own ability. They deserve it. It is not discrimination or not but thats the truth in this world. The loser will always say the winner cheated. There isn't aperfect society in the world but from the number of country I been to... Singapore is one of the better ones.

I have my own house with 121 sq metres very comfortable and a 2800cc car.
But again, not many people are as lucky as we here. Some people might have putting in loads of hardwork and they don't get what they deserve or they might not be as smart as you are. Some might be dragged over by their dependants.
