Thailand down grade relationship with SGPermanent Secretary Krit registered ThailandÂ’s dissatisfaction on the said incident and its rationalization by the Singapore Government which, from ThailandÂ’s view, adversely affect trust and understanding between the two countries. After assessment of the situation, the Royal Thai Government has decided to implement the following:
1. Cooperation under the framework of Thailand-Singapore Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) is suspended;
2. The 8th CSEP Meeting scheduled to be held in Thailand from 29-31 January 2007 is called off; and
3. The invitation previously extended to Mr. George Yeo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, to visit Thailand from 29-30 January 2007 is retracted.
In this regard, it is Thailand’s view that the incident is not consistent with what the President of Singapore told Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont during his official visit to Singapore in November 2006 that “We will never betray nor jeopardize that trust between Singapore and Thailand.” 16 January 2007
2.Thailand discriminate Spore.
Thaksin
has spent most of his time since then in exile in London or Beijing
and spent days in HK.
Have Thai dared to protest to PRC or UK?
If Thai do so to PRC and UK ,I salute them.
3.Spore is not a small bro any more,to any one, even to US.Take note.
4.Tell me which country will crash with US President just for
canning a teen whose name is Michael Faye .
ONLY SPORE DARE TO DO THIS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
5.Even Thai Foreign Ministry said He and his wife can travel on ordinary passports.
So,what is wrong they are in Spore for a private visit?
Notwithstanding, both Pol. Lt. col. Thaksin and Khunying Potjamarn, are still able to travel with their ordinary passports.
Elephant kow tow to big panda and big unicorn but bully the small lion!!

6.
Thai nationals do not require visas to visit Singapore. There is no reason for Singapore to turn Dr Thaksin away. Prior to Singapore, Dr Thaksin had also visited several other countries without any protest by the Thai Government.

MFA Spokesman's Comments on Thai MFAÂ’s decision to suspend the Thailand-Singapore CSEP*,etc
7.
The Singapore Government notes that the position taken by the Thai Government is a response to the recent private visit of Dr Thaksin Shinawatra.
The Singapore Government hopes that Thailand can appreciate Singapore's position on the visit. The Thai Government did not notify us that Dr Thaksin has been charged for any offence. There is also no restriction on where he can travel to. He had chosen to make a visit to Singapore on his own.
Dr Thaksin had asked to meet Deputy Prime Minister Professor S Jayakumar, who is an old friend. It was purely a social and private meeting. No official calls or meetings were arranged. Thai nationals do not require visas to visit Singapore.
There is no reason for Singapore to turn Dr Thaksin away. Prior to Singapore, Dr Thaksin had also visited several other countries without any protest by the Thai Government.
We are therefore saddened that the Thai Government has chosen to take this course of action. We hope Thailand will respect Singapore's position as that of a sovereign country. We value the longstanding friendly relations with Thailand."
