Ya I know must be smart but I think those not so good in studies also can do well right? Just look at the world's top ten richest man, I think most of them not well educated..Originally posted by JerzZzzZ:Intelligence has little (or no) relation to leadership qualities.
Nonetheless, I'd rather have a smart leader, than a not-so-smart leader. A leader not only has to get the job done well, he has to be able to hold intelligent talk and discussion with other leaders. Diplomacy and stuff, you know?
Rich and leader are 2 different categories. Unless by leader, you mean the leaders of the economy, then okay. Point taken.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:Ya I know must be smart but I think those not so good in studies also can do well right? So we are now stuck with scholars who use maths to calculate the people's happiness level? Good siah, I feel so happy to know that.Originally posted by the Bear:most of them were scholars because of the mistakened belief by lau lee so many years ago...
and then, perpetuated by that belief that they the scholars, are the elite, they keep bringing up similar people...
Haha just an example lah.Originally posted by Darkness_hacker99:How to get 19 subjects in the first place.
Knowledge becomes evil if the aim be not virtuous. No one ever teaches well who wants to teach, or governs well who wants to govern.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:If I am an all As scholar in 19 subjects does that make me a wonderful leader? Is Singapore using wrong method to choose our future leaders huh?

We hope they can also make right choice for the country!![/b]
I think you are right on this one. We need to move away from the notion that academic achievement equals leadership potential. However, leadership potential is something which is difficult to access through just CVs and interviews, hence it is really quite difficult to identify genuine leaders from the cohort each year.Originally posted by the Bear:most of them were scholars because of the mistakened belief by lau lee so many years ago...
