When LHL was appointed as PM after election, LKY said that if PM should be chosen by people, the chinese will choose the chinese, the malay will choose the malay, the indian will choose the indian. He mentioned that it would be better for the paliament to decide who to be the next PM because the people in paliament are chosen by the people. Correct me if i'm wrong. -
This is all getting way too complicated...

LKY's preferred successor as PM was also Mr Tony Tan and not current SM Goh Chok Tong. Did he suddenly reverse his earlier decision? Or was it the party which gave their overwhelming support to Mr Goh? The party decides who sits on which portfolio, not LKY, despite all the conspiracy theories. This fact has not gone unnoticed by some among the masses, where their inclination is that they 'voted in' an MP, but they have no say over who sits on which chair.
Would it be a good idea to allow the people to decide? I don't know, considering the amount of knowledge required to make an informed decision of that magnitude. Were it that simple, Tharman Sharmugaratnum and Khaw Boon Wan would not have to serve terms as 'acting-education' and 'acting health' before taking up their new portfolios.
On the other hand, there should a criteria in place to ensure that ministers perform in their roles or are replaced. In that regard, there are a few past and present office holders who underperformed during their tenure, yet the axe was not wielded. -

The PRESS have chosen - and that is the most powerful force - because they are heard and you are not. But "unfairly with his lack of wisdom" ? perhaps not. He is much better than many of the crooked leaders in the region. -
The press can't represent the people because there is no freedom of press even though it is powerful. Not lack of wisdom? Still remember what he did by visiting Taiwan after he got the pm seat?
