I would go anytime I like, and I can say anything I like. Is this my fingers doing the typing or your finger? This is Singapore's Online Discussion Network.. I can discuss anything about Singapore. Should'n't you be out a long time ago?

My dear friend, I hope things are as easy as that. I wish everyone can just pack up and go any country they want to. In this way there would be no political refugees. PR application takes time my friend, I am taking my first steps...Originally posted by akinos:Nope i dun get your point though. Then leave, why bother to talk so much? not everyone is in the same situation as you and having the same needs as you. No policy implemented is "perfect" or should i say some will benefit and some will be in a disadvantage. Com'on, what goes up must come down someday. If you have a better policy that can be implemented, why not voice it out then? Being in their shoes is not easy. In this world, there are bound to be contented and discontented people. Instead of just questioning the government, why not question youself and ask how you can adapt to these changes.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:My dear friend, I hope things are as easy as that. But is it wrong to question the government? What if everyone was as happy as you are? Who will keep them in check? If they have done nothing wrong, they will do well to explain their positions and how their policies could do no wrong. They should not fear questioning from the general public, the people that are going to be affected by the policies.
If I am not affected by the GSTs, Transport hikes etc, I will not give a damn. My family and friends are still in Singapore, many are unhappy, but many like you choose to just accept it as it is... they say... what to do?
Are we all spineless people? Do you want Singaporeans to be like that?
I want passion amongst our people, let people know that they have a part to play in their nation's wellbeing too. Are we to accept whatever is given to us or are we going to question them until they provide us with the best solutions?
I may whine, but I whine for the people of Singapore, not for my own selfish reasons... I can nothing to gain or lose if GST goes up... think about it my friend.
I am leaving for goodness sake, my PR application is still going underway you understand?!?!?Originally posted by akinos:Then leave, why bother to talk so much? not everyone is in the same situation as you and having the same needs as you. And i kindly request that when you wan to speak or vent your anger, refrain from using vulgarities. Surely you are old enough to understand that using profanities will not make everything right.
Do we really need a ''privatised" public transport company? Oil prices are going up, but so are their profits. By privatising we expect better services.. but do we get them?Originally posted by akinos:Convince? How can that be done when we are all so "kiasu". When things come cheap, we take them for granted. When it is expensive, we want them cheaper. Surely cost would have to rise and some of them would go down. Our resources are limited and the demand for them is high. You think fuel prices increase because our government is money hungry and wants it to? The earth has limited resources for everyone, not everyone gets it.
How do you know that i agree with everything? Are you a psyhic or something? Sure there are things that i disagree with, but i come up with solutions of my own. Not whine about them and hoping the government would change them or find some flaws in them.
How about this. I'm sure u have a roof over your head even though you are homeless or poor as you can seem help. Why not you try other countries that are hit by poverty? Would you rather be them or here in Singapore.
What caused us to be kiasu in the first place? What caused this mindless endless paper chase? I am not talking only about fuel prices.Originally posted by akinos:Convince? Hey! If I ever get millions like him, why would I want to jeopardize my own position by making noise. Unless I am morally obligated to serve the Singapore citizens, goes to show having high pay is not the same as having high morals. Neither does having high educational qualification equate to high morals.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:What caused us to be kiasu in the first place? What caused this mindless endless paper chase? Do you think ERP after ERP can solve the problem? Do you think GST can alleviate the problems faced by the needy and poor (not to mention those in the middle class).
Many people are faced with increased competition from the FT, those that are espcecially affected are those in the higher age group. They face the burden of a family, the prospect of getting retrenched... whereas the cost of living continues its upward spiral.
Who is to prevent a repeat of the NKF. Our late Mr Ong urged more transparency and what treatment did he receive? Mr Nathan is more passive and he gets a pay raise... what does all these mean?
People out there are suffering and complaining. Instead of addressing the problems and taking pains to explain, they refer to it as some kind of medicine.. everyone knows medicine is good, but why is it good? What does it do? I will never take a pill without first knowing what it does for me...
maybe thaksin also came looking for this exotic dish.Originally posted by maurizio13:Where can one find mee siam with hum to eat?
I have heard about this famous dish from a prominent leader in Singapore.
But to date, I still can't find this dish.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I hope it is only served to the rich and powerful... it sounds awful...Originally posted by Lefleche:maybe thaksin also came looking for this exotic dish.maybe its served only for rich and powerful pple.

If not for the fact that our families are still here, I think more would have left...Originally posted by will4:800 Sporean had already left for other countries.
I think after budget speech, more will leave soon. In fact, got heard of Sporean telling their PR frens not to ger Spore citizenship.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:If not for the fact that our families are still here, I think more would have left...
It's funny isn't it, it's always those that can more or less afford it that moves out from Singapore (the very people that policies actually favor), leaving those less fortunate behind...
Spore is becoming more like HK in tern of immigration figures but HK people like to move to Canada but Sporean to Australia.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:If not for the fact that our families are still here, I think more would have left...

Haha I recently also got a indonesian chinese friend who say lucky he never choose to give up his indon citizenship... he said Singapore may be clean and lawful but the rental alone can kill most business and him being the business type of cause calculated which country is better for him in the long run...Originally posted by will4:I think after budget speech, more will leave soon. I have colleauges from Malaysia saying they want to retain their Malaysian citizenship.
