I have no experience on jobs in M'sia, so I can't comment on that issue ..
I have, however, worked in companies in Singapore where employees have virtually no life because they're handling 2-3 jobs within the company, but only paid and recognized for holding 1 position.. they have to do it because the threat of retrenchment hangs in the air. This isn't just one company.. it isn't just local companies. So in that aspect at least, I don't think he's making stories up.
I have a friend who's a secretary in a large MNC who's made to do HR admin and share the department accountant's workload. I don't think that qualifies as merely 2-3 "responsibilities". She's not the only example I can think of, and many of my friends also tell of similar situations at their workplaces.

So I see, your concerns were based on your play with words?Originally posted by saffron60:That's the point I was trying to make, just because singaporeans have got work stress, doesn't mean that their counterparts in other countries don't.
He made way too many general assumptions; no comparisons within a specific type of industry or comparisons within different country branches within the same MNC.
I think when you are talking about your friend, you are saying that she is being 'seconded', it's not the same as having 2 jobs. How would you know if you had 2 jobs within the same company? Easy...if you are paid for 2 jobs.
The employment industry term for a job means occupation/position. A person can have one job and several responsibilities within the same job, that is not to be confused with having several jobs within the same company, the meaning is different. And it is quite common place nowadays for workers in the private sector to be given added responsibilities which are not specifically stated in their contracts; there's a term in the contracts saying ''ad-hoc responsibilties as assigned by the employer'' or something similar to that.
If you are prepared to accept the living conditions in Malaysia and Thailand, there is nothing to stop you from cashing out and live out your savings in these nations at 40. You will have a very comfortable lifestyle indeed....Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Bottom line is, if Malaysians and Thais work so hard like Singaporeans, they can retire modestly when after they hit 40 whereas Singaporeans can look forward to be stressed out like this until there are into their seventies. Correct, that is why in Singapore, the salaries do not commensurate with the cost of living. The people are oppressed. Their money is being taken away. You know who is doing that.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:If you are prepared to accept the living conditions in Malaysia and Thailand, there is nothing to stop you from cashing out and live out your savings in these nations at 40. Once again, dog chasing his own tail, what can I say? Such a baseless, ridiculous statement like that doesn't warrant an intelligent refutal. At least my explanation is based on some amount of facts, yours seem to be plucked from the sky. Well, you said it yourself, now you have exposed yourself to the world as a raving lunatic.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:So I see, your concerns were based on your play with words?
and
You want facts and figures? Get your political masters to remove the Official Secrets Acts.
We are interested in Reality, not definitions of words and propaganda.

I think you are lying, you have never worked in bangkok and KL before.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Correct, that is why in Singapore, the salaries do not commensurate with the cost of living. The people are oppressed. Their money is being taken away. You know who is doing that.
When you say that your explanation is based on "At least my explanation is based on some amount of facts" are you talking about the propaganda you had swallowed hook line and sinker?Originally posted by saffron60:Once again, dog chasing his own tail, what can I say? If you don't have balls at the bottom then you have balls at the top; even then only one propaganda ball; top or bottom is pitiful.Originally posted by saffron60:Nope, you are wrong, i don't have any 'balls', never have, never will. Go figure what that means.
like i said, i don't have any balls, which means that I don't think with 'balls' like you do, which is a good thing at the end of the day.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:If you don't have balls at the bottom then you have balls at the top; even then only one propaganda ball; top or bottom is pitiful.![]()
I seriously doubt that you actually do any thinking other than to swallow propaganda hook line and sinker...Originally posted by saffron60:like i said, i don't have any balls, which means that I don't think with 'balls' like you do, which is a good thing at the end of the day.
At least I think with my brains rather than with balls like you do, no wonder your explanations are so crappy, you are too obsessed with your balls.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:I seriously doubt that you actually do any thinking other than to swallow propaganda hook line and sinker...![]()
You mean a propaganda washed "brain"? I rather think with my balls.Originally posted by saffron60:At least I think with my brains rather than with balls like you do, no wonder your explanations are so crappy, you are too obsessed with your balls.
Hmm...first propoganda balls, now propoganda brains, you are so inconsistent. I think propoganda is the disease that you are trying to spread from your balls to my brains, it won't work, buddy.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:You mean a propaganda washed "brain"? I rather think with my balls.![]()
I am just following your lead, you talk balls, I talk balls. You talk brains, I talk brains. What do you think the official secrets act is for sister? So you can have the truth? You can't handle the truth!Originally posted by saffron60:Hmm...first propoganda balls, now propoganda brains, you are so inconsistent. Wah so smart, you know that it is a Nicholson quote... now, if you only use that intelligence to remove the illusions created by others in you brain cells...Originally posted by saffron60:You are starting to sound like Jack Nicholson, looks like what i said about your balls was true....hahahahh
I feel so privileged that you should follow my lead, oh well, since you are not as witty as I am, what can I expect?
Hmm..at least i don't follow people's lead like you do and i don't copy other people's quotes, that's what happens when you think with your brains instead of your balls. You should give it a try sometime.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Wah so smart, you know that it is a Nicholson quote... now, if you only use that intelligence to remove the illusions created by others in you brain cells...
Follow, but not blindly... but I guess that nuance is just too hard for a "propaganded" brain to appreciate...Originally posted by saffron60:Hmm..at least i don't follow people's lead like you do and i don't copy other people's quotes, that's what happens when you think with your brains instead of your balls.
