The "elites" in Sgp behave more like frustrated coolies while they are working under the hot sun? That these "coolies" when they are drinking stout with their buddies behave in a less frus manner than the so-called "elites"?

Answering to the red question, "elites" can be anything.. It depends on how u look at it.. For example, if i mention ITE, wat's ur 1st impression on them?? For me, "elites" can be good in humor and really based on reality...

Well, actually what I meant was, the so call 'meritocratic' policy of Singapore has led to the rise of the 'elites' (such as our famous blogger, Ms XXX) who certainly look down on 'low-class' people like the 'non-elite leeches'. More often than not, these elites have got rich and influence parents (for example, having a certain post in a certain political arena).
Rather ironic isn't it?
It also refers to the increasingly proud attitude of young Singaporeans, not wanting to associate themselves with 'low-class' people and places when the actions of they themselves are much lower than 'low-class' can get. -
The irony I can see is that if they are "elites" because their parents are "having a certain post in a certain political arena" they should be ashamed of themselves. I don't see how people "having a certain post in a certain political arena" in Singapore can take any pride in themselves.
