i do hope to be useful still even after i die
but the thing is, with my lifestyle, i wonder which of my organs are still in good working condition when i die.......
Excuse me OM, but do you think the processes of 'uprooting' one's life from SGP to be a simple, and swift procedure??Originally posted by oxford mushroom:talk is cheap...you have posted that line so many times in so many places...
now let's see you do it![]()
Agreed!Originally posted by robertteh:Opt our procedure is already questionable and dubious as it presumes consent without obtaining consent from all relevant parties, and loved ones and the victim himself.
To make matter worse than questionable and dubious, when a patient is in coma, opt-out procedure is unreasonably interpreted against the patient to the extent of murdering him to get to the organ.
What kind of society have we degraded to ? Any respect for human life when life is dangling in coma to be saved. Which life deserves saving the one about to die or the one waiting for transplant.
My thoughts exactly...Originally posted by robertteh:Opt our procedure is already questionable and dubious as it presumes consent without obtaining consent from all relevant parties, and loved ones and the victim himself.

You are right! They let one die so they can save > 5! Heart lungs liver kidneyS cornea blah blah blah. Anyway, i dont think they should just let someone die so they can do that...if they are gone...it's another thing.Originally posted by spinsugar:My thoughts exactly...
They've got their priorities wrong! You don't kill one to save another!![]()

On another note. As far as i -believe- if you opt out, you are just letting others die(worse suffer!) when you have a chance to better their lives after you are dead yourself. I mean seriously how would you feel if you were told hey someone just died and matched your X requirements but you cannot get transplant cause he/she opt out already....think about that. Opting in/out is your own decision to save the lives of others.
Opting "in" empowers you with that choice too. But there's a difference, isn't there?Originally posted by LazerLordz:Opting out means you are empowered to choose whether to donate after your death.
That why we had signed the opt out forms, cauz we want our family members not otherwise to decide when is the last day of life even when the brain had died!!!!Originally posted by LazerLordz:Opting out means you are empowered to choose whether to donate after your death. Apparently we need to educate more Singaporeans on this concept of personal choice.
The issue is how u define "death"????there r more than 2 schools of thought about death issue?Originally posted by Kenashi:what's the use of organs that are going to be either burnt or left to decompose?
unless u believe that in the afterlife, u might need these organs
better to give others a second chance at life than to waste it.
r we really so selfish? even in death, we can't be more generous towards others?
