Probably need to send *ministers* for a course in common sense.Originally posted by fymk:You need a new course in common sense added into the syllabus like a course in creativity for secondary and primary school students.
The very least the minister could ask his aides to photocopy and get the details of your friend. Even if he could not help much , it would have looked like he tried.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Probably need to send *ministers* for a course in common sense.
one minister in Toa Payoh central meet the people's session heard my friend's case, late last year.
before going before the minister, my friend asked me how he should present his case.
I told him that these people go with evidence and so he must be prepared.
I helped my friend write a letter containing all the facts and figures and the names and contact numbers of all people involved (Town Council as well as HDB and the various plumbers' numbers; it was a pipe leaking case)
Our good friend the minister after hearing all the evidence concluded,
"I don't know" "I don't know"... "All I know is, you want your problem solved then pay the Town Council the price they asked for."
My friend's uneducated mother said in Hokkein, "Everything don't know, ask him to get up from his seat and I take over".![]()

The case was finally resolved with my friend getting it fixed for free instead of the (in the beginning) $800 or something ridiculous like that; I don't know if the minister did anything after telling my friend "I don't know, I don't know..." to help. The HDB and senior town council people (not the one he dealt with) probably seriously reviewed the evidence my friend produced after he went to see his MP, the minister.
My friend suspected that there was some sort of hanky-panky in TP central town council but without solid evidence he and I cannot say anything or accuse anybody.
So you see, even if you produce the evidence, they tell you "I don't know, I don't know, just pay up!"
So just go with your own common sense. I suddenly realised that this must be why that old man beat up that MP during MTP session.![]()

To be fair, I actually pity those that have to meet the people.![]()

But surely they must exercise some self control with their frustration and not simply tell people "I don't know, I don't know, just pay up".![]()
I think he did, but it is his stupid attitude I am against, asking my friend to pay up to solve the problem even before they had reviewed the evidence!Originally posted by fymk:The very least the minister could ask his aides to photocopy and get the details of your friend. Do we need u to tell us?? We all already know who's the one whom they keep sucking our big $$$$....Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:I think he did, but it is his stupid attitude I am against, asking my friend to pay up to solve the problem even before they had reviewed the evidence!
My friend was vindicated because he ended up paying ZERO $
Can you imagine all those ah peks and ah soh that ended up paying that ridiculous amount on the advice of our good minister?
Our common sense tells us that there is some hanky panky in TP Town council but without the evidence, what can we say? The independent plumber sent by HDB to review the quote given by the town council's plumber thinks so too. We do not want to end up like that guy Durai sued for defamation and lose even though he was right!
Something is very wrong in Singapore when people ask you for "evidence" and then throw the "Official Secrets Act" in your face!
All the P*P reps in this forum should know who I am talking about. Please go and ask him and verify the info for yourself. Toa Payoh Central meet the people session handled by a minister sometime last year... Town Council and HDB should have the records as well if nobody shredded the evidence.
I mean the name of the minister in question. how about we play a guessing game?Originally posted by turbo_drift:Do we need u to tell us?? We all already know who's the one whom they keep sucking our big $$$$....

Why must be rumour??Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:I mean the name of the minister in question. how about we play a guessing game?
I give you a clue and instead of giving up the name, you tell us the reasons why I give that clue.
Like if I tell you the clue is "pig". then you say: "He is born in the year of the pig" or "He looks like a pig" or "His father looks like a pig" without actually naming the man?
OK here is the first clue:
Rumors are that he is related to the "old man".
You must say what the rumor is and not name the man!
Nope, it was a rumor about him and the old man! Maybe you are not aware of the rumor that's why. Try again!Originally posted by turbo_drift:Why must be rumour??

Official Secrets ActOriginally posted by wongkm:I hope the memory of HDB replied in ST forum, that construction cost of HDB is hard to compute hence hard to compute for flat subsidy, still fresh in everyone mind.
Recently. in a reporting of minister presented account of impact of ban of sand, sale. the minister for HDB said sand cost is only x % and if he drill down further, the cost could be even lower than x %.
Does the minister of HDB is using HDB flat construction cost as reference? How could the HDB can give accurate figure to the boss and refuse to reveal information that is of the interest of the public.
Use your common sense!Originally posted by :Oi, you twisted liao izzit? Wrong=right, right=wrong
Your argument holds no water when your rationale is lacking wor.....
The court of law is a trier of fact, not who is right/wrong......... This is the very basis of your twisted inference employed on the PAP. If you have not got this right from the start, your srgument has no foundation and is hopelessly flawed!!!![]()
