S'pore Senior Minsiter Goh Chok Tong was quoted in channelnewsasia.com as saying: "I would encourage people to take a personal interest to the charities they are giving to, look at the accounts primarily, meet the people in charge, look at the services provided, satisfy yourself, then give generously."
If govt grants charities the license to operate, then shouldn't the govt have the onus to oversee the charities?
Isn't SM Goh's statement like saying "Even though the govt grants the license to a hawker-stall, it is YOU the customer who has to ensure its cleanliness before eating there"......

This Mr Peanut recent talks r the worst I had ever heard from PAP, no wonder ppls said he was useless (kaiuse) minister, flighting here n there did nothing 4 Sinkapore, talking here n there w/o substance to help sillyporeans!!! -

He-hey. It sure is a sweet deal for the ministers. Get paid million dollar salaries to tell the people to "Do It Yourself". Just have to make it all look good on paper, y'know.

Then what's the point of having a charity regulatory authority? If your regulatory organisation cannot manage all the charities, might as well close down and save tax payers money.
