probably, and look at the words carefully, he spoke of 'the old woman' instead of using 'my mother'... that only proves to show the kind of morality he has.Originally posted by Fatum:probably cos even after the son is raking in the money, he didn't give "pocket money" to his mother ...
no .... his son is innocent ... why wish this kind of bad karma upon him cos of what his parents did to his grandmother, right ? ....Originally posted by 4getmenot:probably, and look at the words carefully, he spoke of 'the old woman' instead of using 'my mother'... that only proves to show the kind of morality he has.

Yeah, her daughter-in-law should get that into her thick head. Either that or she isn't thick-skinned enough.Originally posted by Hellraiza:why can't his mother just stop working and enjoy her golden years...
Usually old people who work, do so because they don't want to feel useless

If you haven't read it before, the Hippocratic Oath deals with the relationship between physicians and their teachers and patients, not between parents and children.Originally posted by LazerLordz:What an asswipe. I'd bet he misread the Hippocratic Oath as the Hypocrite's Oath.

That is why the government was right in implementing the Maintenance of Parents Bill.
The son's attitude and atrocious behaviour towards his own mother reflects the failure of the "ONE-sided" practice of Confuscianism being implemented by this Government, in which it expects Singaporeans to follow Confuscian Principles in our conduct, but will absolve the Government's own responsibilities towards those whom it govern.
The son is caught between his wife and his mother. Although we do not know the full facts, it appears that there has been a great deal of conflict between his wife and his mother.
It would have been better for him to have moved out to a property of his own, which I am sure he can afford. Sometimes the best way to keep a big happy family is to have some individual space. The son is utterly wrong to evict his mother and block her access to the grandchildren.
Is this the best that the highest educated amongst Singaporeans can rely on - another piece of Legislation to govern our Lives ?
Perhaps it is time to enact legislation to allow grandparents access to their grandchildren in the event that relations break down between parents and children.
