Ho Ching should step down from Temasek Holdings

It was never a good idea for Ho Ching to head Temasek. She will never be able to do a good job, no matter how good she may be. If she did something well, people will say it's her husband who blows her trumpet. If she does badly, people will say her husband hides her faults.
In contrast, Lee Hsien Yang is smart to step down whilst the going is good. He leaves at a time when Singtel has made lots of profits and he has plenty of bonus in his bank account. Ho Ching has left it too late but rather late than never.
However the Shin Corp issue will pan out, Temasek is likely to lose money and even her husband has said that if Temasek loses money over Shin Corp, they will have to be held to account. Having her husband, being Minister of Finance, as effectively the regulator of Temasek is a bad idea from the start. Whatever fault is attributed to Temasek eventually, LHL cannot escape responsibility as the regulator. The question will be raised as to why the Minister for Finance had been sleeping on the watch. He can hardly distance himself from the CEO, as he could if someone else held that position. The fact that his wife is head of Temasek will no doubt cast suspicion on his independence whilst carrying out his duties, even if he is beyond reproach.
Justice has to be done and seen to be done. In view of Ho Ching's relationship to LHL, any mistake she makes will have an adverse impact on her husband, the ruling party and the entire government. In other words, she is becoming a liability for the government. Get rid of her before it is too late. -

Lee Hsien Yang was clever - No doubt he knew that overpaying 10 BILLION dollars for optus was a very bad thing (yes the aussies are laughing at it all the way to the bank) and he offered to step down before people found out. -

not for the reasons you mention about her being there adversely affecting the Lee Dynasty (we'll come to that later) but for the simple fact that she's shown to be hopelessly and ineptly out of her league..
she's supposed to be an electrical engineer by training and maybe she's "the most powerful woman in Singapore" by the perverse nature of business as seen by Dilbert.. where the more spectacular your failure, the more prestige you earn.. Shin Corp is just the latest of the string.. others like Micropolis come to mind...
she should step down... because she's messing with the Nation's money... she should step down because her inept handling of corporations cost us, the taxpayer, a lot of money.. she should step down.. because any other CEO who has screwed up this much, would have been thrown out by the board long ago..
as for adversely affecting the Lee Dynasty, even Lau Goh once admitted that there is a conflict of interest but was probably told to zip it and added that "they will eventually work for the common good"...
the conduct of the Lee Dynasty has smeared themselves worse than anything.. and with her being where she is.. they can't tarnish themselves any other further short of looting everything on a grand scale...
so, yes.. she should step down.. because anywhere else, she would have her tenure as CEO terminated with extreme prejudice..
p.s. btw, sacrificing one member who married into the Lee Family for the "good" of rest of the Lees is a masterstroke of a suggestion by you...

I am in nobody's payroll. I am free to speak my mind..agree with whatever I agree with and object to whatever I disagree with. Ho Ching is a liability to the PAP and the government. No individual is greater than the organization and the nation.
Thaksin was a good friend and the friendship was useful to us when he was in power. But the moment the Thai king wants him out, he becomes a liability to us and I have said many times before, the government should have sold him to the dogs the moment the coup happened. Similarly, Ho Ching is becoming a liability. In the interest of the party and the government, LHL should get rid of her. -

She will never step down.
If she does - it will be a multi-million dollar payout of a handshake to her and someone gets the blame for the screw ups that might have orchestrated earlier during the reign.
If she does not - you still won't have a say unless you dare vote the government out and start opening account books. By then ...it might be too late. -

Come on, be fair. There are tons more incompetent sernior civil servants, MPs who hardly do grassroot-work, and even Ministers who are in-charge of everything but take no responsibility when the shit hits the fan, who are all still gainfully employed.
So, why should Madam Ho go before these insufferable people? -
