The Shin Corp deal is blotched because of Thaksin, not because of Temasek. Telenor, a norwegian firm, owned majority of Total Access Communication (DTAC) in Thailand via a thai nominee company. DTAC is a mobile communications firm. Why no complains?
There is nothing wrong in Temasek buying over Shin Corp as Shin Corp is a public listed company and by that it means that anyone can buy the shares. The so called "national asset" satellites are also not a concern because ShinSat is only 40+% owned by Shin Corp, majority is owned by the Thai government. The assets are in Thailand, operated by Thais and owned by Thais. How can Singapore spy on their military? In fact, the claim would seem idiotic at best because a satellite acts like a mirror and security should be implemented at the end communication. If the communication channel is not encrypted, anyone including Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam or Malaysia can simply spy on their communication over the air.
Udon airbase. Singapore signed an MOU with the Thais to use their airspace for training for 3 years. In return, Singapore allows Thai military planes to use Singapore airbase. Singapore also gave them 7 F16 A/Bs for free.

The issue is that a singapore government-linked organisation was allowed to buy a thai govt-linked corporation in the first place.
Whether it is through a thai intermediatory is irrelevant. It is source of the buy-out that the Thais are unhappy with. -

Actually that sonthi guy have agreed that he would use money to buy back those Satellites..It would only be fair and Sg would also also be very happy to sold it back to its owners...Taken from some reliable sources.
Actually mine own personal view is to ask that thaksin guy the very person who sold the satellites and swallowed the whole deal profits and caused all this headache between the two countries...To buy back the Sats with his own bank money.. -

Look, fear and what not is nonsense. The Thai Military can make a cock and bull story for the populace but they are only beginning to understand that they cannot do what they like and expect the market to accept their policies warm heartedly. They have back pedaled on every policy they thought would punish us but now they realise that seizing Shincorp by force is going to give rise to very negative reactions from foreign investors which Thailand so desperately needs.
They will not cook up some random law out of the blue to take Shincorp back by force. What they can possibly do, which I believe they would, is sit down and talk to Temasek and work out a face saving solution that will allow them to run off without embarrassing themselves any further and Temasek will not loose the bulk of taxpayers' cash they stuffed in.
