Should we accept vulgarities in our society?

In this society of Singapore,many of us think that vulgarities are seen as the most crude form of speech.However,for me i think it is pretty normal to yell out 'Kao bei' and 'chee bye'.I see nothing wrong with it.
But many people think that vulgarities should be kicked out of this society.Should we really kick those 'lan jiao' and 'chee bye' out of our society or shall we accept them and let it be part of our life?

I think vulgarities exists in all societies, worldwide. Crudes form of expression of one's anger they may be, it is still a direct expression of displeasure.
However, I must point out that what's worst than vulgarities are logic and reasons that defy common sense, such as; "increase GST to help the poor..."
Now this I feel, is by far very much more "vulgar"....

i believe that society today should not accept vulgarities. im speaking in the context of Singapore. our ministers have always stressed that we should be polite, courteous..blah blah...and hence, by using these vulgarities, it would destroy the image of Singapore to the tourists, which is a big deal, since tourism is the main source of revenue for the country.
Of course, it wouldn't be 'classy' to use vulgarities on people.In fact, LKY wanted a 1st class Singaporeans (or sth liddat) rite? 'Classy' Singaporeans wouldnt use vulgarities, they would use cheem phrases to criticise u, like "He is comparable to a mouse trapped in a cage with a python. Pathetic."
heh.but still, i must agree, it is already construed that vulgarities are part of our daily lives. whatever to be said here wont make much of a diff..=| -

It is a question of habit & upbringing.Using vugarities is crude & uncultured.If one can express in proper language,why should one use vulgarities?We are discussing public issues in this forum.It is a serious matter,I don't think we should use vulgar words.

Ok here're some examples:
In hokkien: when someone bump into you or steps on your toe
"Nah Beh! Nin-peh ka ah! Kua lor ay hiao beh!"
Proper English version:
"Hey! Watch where you're going, fark-head!"
In Hokkien: when someone jumps que
"Eh Siao eh! Kan ni nah....Ki ow-buay bai-tui!"
Proper English:
"Execuse me, please que behind, fark-face!"
In Hokkien: when someone in cinema talks too much
"Oi siao eh! Tiam ay sai buay! Nin-peh ai song-song kuah hee ah!"
Proper English:
"Execuse me, SHUT THE FARK UP!"
In Hokkien: when someone stare at you for no reason
"Kan ni nah bu, li kwah si mi lan chiao!! Ai pah ah!?"
Proper English:
"What the FARK, are you staring at?!?"
And the above are all REAL LIFE observations....! -
Usually, when such level of Hokkien explitives are used by an offended Ah Beng, physical violence often follow shortly after such utterances...
But when Proper English is used, it can very well turn out the other way around; such as the party you cursed in Proper English turns out to be the notorious care-free Ah Beng...! "Si mi! Kong si mi lan! Buay song ah!?!"

People in the society have already accepted homosexuality, pre-marital sex, etc, etc which is thought not possible or crazy in the past. Its only a matter of time before vulgarity is widely accepted in the community...

I feel that if and when people do start 'kicking other people from society' just because they don't conform to an image of what is appropriate, what results is cultural bankruptcy, where people are afraid to express themselves for fear that that behaviour may not be accepted in society
quite sad really but i feel that this is happening in singapore already
