The government based it's growth on the Solow's model of output with capital, like all models diminishing returns sets in as the capital stock increases. There is an optimum level of capital in any economy, this is when having too much of a good thing is a bad thing.
Price level is always sticky downwards, the government knows that the citizens would not decrease their expectations unless threatened with foreign workers. If you have always received $2,000 for salary, would you ever asked for $1,200? A company not doing well in it's sales will most often reduce it's production force rather than reducing price. Unless you are faced with other competing forces, that's why they imported so many FT, to depress the wages of Singaporeans to make wages cheap. But doing so means that we are no different from China and India, our labour force is unique, we should not import so much cheap foreign labour to depress our wages, our infrastructure and work ethics should be the main selling point.
Increasing GDP does not reap any benefits for the citizens. A GDP per capita is just the total production of the domestic economy divided by it's population. If the total economy produces a GDP of $1,000,000 with a labour force of 100, the GDP would be $1,000, but these workers could be making $100 of the GDP(which is way below the GDP), the increases in the total GDP does not benefit the workers. More often the extra GDP goes to the company in the form of extra profits. With the current trend of suppressing wages through the use of "foreign talents", I guess whatever GDP increases would be useless. GDP is not a measure of the citizen's living standard or wealth.

Our nation has hardly improved. We have become more robotic and good at spouting official lines. Are we well-educated? No! Education is what's left after the facts are forgotten. Give the reserves to the population. led us to have no poor people. open up the country to have rallies and demostration.

The PAP were an unproven, untested party in the post colonial era, yet despite their 'newbie' status, they made a difference.
If the alternatives are asking for the same trust, and the current monopolistic rule is stagnating to such an extent that a dearth of creativity is hurting their policies, why should we not give the alternatives their chance? Why find an excuse to doubt them?
Cost of living is soaring, with no apparent attempt by the ruling party to bring it down. There is obvious lack of transparency in their goal to implement the GST hike. Alternatives in parliament have been brushed aside with arrogant disdain without so much as a proper explanation over their actions.
Claims by Goh Chok Tong that the party whip would be lifted to allow ruling party members to speak freely were silenced by Wong Kan Seng and the (in)famous 'retraction' by Goh; in parliament, these same party members offer subdued issues for discussion, none of them pressing home the real problem. Lip service is being paid far more with empty promises.
All this while they audaciously toss about the idea of upping the wages of cabinet ministers concurrently with the topic of GST hike, to the obvious chargrin of the people.
Will anyone 'cry' if the ruling party is voted out? With the gap in broad-based education standards reduced, it is more than likely an alternative party could perform equally well, if they were given a chance. -
They are just well-schooled to get the A's, hardly well educated. Fortunately not all schools are following the "elite" route. Some principals have very strong views and are brave enough to chart different paths. But at the end of the day, they are still constrained by the policy of meritocracy based on paper qualifications. That's why some of those RJC students are crying. Tat 6 months stay made me reflect and think about our lousy government.
True, every country has their bad points and CHina is full of corruption. But then, the ministral pay is low and actually corruption is part of the culture.
There is a HUGE income disparity between the rich adn the poor.
However, the things are still cheap. The poor can still eat comfortably in restaurants and stay in housing. The poor I refer to are the low income earners...not the super poor people that came from rural places to seek a living.
Compare that with SIngapore, GST is increasing, etc.. The cost for the basic survival essentials kept on sky rocketing !!!! How are people gonna live in future ??
Our govt has the cheek to claim super high salary which is just"peanuts". Our PM salary is even higher than that of US president. Why is that so ? To fight corruption ?? To prevent corruption by paying super high salary?? I would rather have a few corrupt minister and give more power to the PEOPLE to watch over them than to have the govt raising GST so as to pay THEMSELVES SUPER HIGH SALARY. That is akin to LEGALSING CORRUPTION in a sort of ways.
Even CHINA, with it's corrupt practices and chaotic business world, offers more opportunities than Singapore. One suggestion is that we pay our minister by the land area of the country they manage. That should keep them in perspective than OUR COUNTRY is damn small. We do not need so many minister that waste taxpayers money and ministers that failed to empathise with the general wage earners in sngapore.
We also need to put them to perspective that while we do indeed need foreign talents to grow and supplement our workforce, we should have a more discretionary policy to pick those talents that we need instead of opening the floodgate to the masses. Do we need so many PRC engineers or Indian engineers ? Are our University not producing enough ??
While the govt can use foreign talents to suppress the income level of the general population, we are unable to USE foreign talent to replace our minister. That doesn't seem quite right, isn't it ? Perhaps we need to replace some of our highly paid for nothing ministers with foreign talents so that we do not have to increase GST to pay their ultra high salary.

I don't think using Foreign talents to rule our country is a right decision. These is our country, only ppl who are born here will understand the needs of the ppl. But though you are right that the minister some ppl are really good for nothing but doesn't mean foreign talent will be any better. The result for minister to claim such high pay is that becos civil servant are not suppose to have their own business.. So they won't proft by using their power in the ministry. But i still think the minister pay are too high if they can't do anything.. What they do best to drain our money and put into their pocket. If really Singapore government wanna earn more money I suggest to cut cost.. In a healthy manner

Did they propose 'free transport'?
Did they propose 'free housing'?
Did they propose minimum salary of 2k??!?
Did they say give the reserves to the people?
What they proposed was subsidised transport, but PAP members exaggerated their comments into 'asking for freebies'. What Low Thia Khiang proposed was for a larger amount of reserves to be used to offset the rising costs of living and the PM Lee's budget plan. Instead, he was mocked and all his suggestions were exaggerated into claims that the alternatives were only interested in backrupting the reserves and finding the 'easy way out'.
Was this in anyway part of the alternatives' objective? Or is this how crafty our ruling party is in twisting the comments of others to serve their purposes? This is politics, and it is up to us to read through the lines.
Chiam See Tong also asked if a minimum salary cap can be provided for local white and blue-collared workers to safeguard their families; he did not demand an outright figure from the govt. Yet you seem to have managed to misinterpret his intentions.
Should the alternatives be lambasted for your ignorance?
