what they do for the nation sometimes (if not all times) cause people to question how sincere they are in helping singaporeans. Just this week, a relative's wife gave birth. he said what the baby bonus is about is just crap as he needs to pay before the govt will give him the $$ for the baby bonus. Eg, if you deposit $500 in the account, the govt gives you $500 and if you deposit $100, the govt gives you $100. Wa, must pay before get the baby bonus. This really set people thinking how sincere they are in giving baby bonus.![]()

No free lunch, then why called it baby bonus - should call it baby birth pay and gain, or buy 1 get 1 free. So misleading!!! The way they do it it's just too yucks, treat singaporeans like fools!!!Originally posted by allentyb:there is no free lunch in this world

sorry to be rude there...understand the point i'm trying to put across...if u would like to have a more open opinion...study y pap and the government did the things they do...study them in the perspective of doing the nation good as a whole..Originally posted by OO_OO_OO:
So you think you're very intelligent?
If our leaders have your attitude, the "everyone is dumb except me and only my opinion counts" attitude, then gg.
you crossed the line, bitch. Now F off. I'd rather listen to a pro-papper who would first listen to what others have to say before sprouting his propaganda.
pls understand where does the money he deposit goes to in the first place...to the government straight..?or back to him...?or to his child in the future...?who benefits in the end...?Originally posted by rane:No free lunch, then why called it baby bonus - should call it baby birth pay and gain, or buy 1 get 1 free. Striving to get the best education will give you the straight As..Originally posted by chiabaliao:Striving for the best and making something out of life are not the same as you are the best only if you get all the A's. So how did the educational scene here become so bad that these students think they are losers? Because they were striving to be the privileged elites, not striving for the best education they can get. Being well schooled to get A's is not the same as being educated. Education arms you with a mindset to learn for the rest of your life, not a piece of paper entitling you to elite privileges. Education is part of the political picture. Note how PAP uses it to advance its agenda?
no ah..if the opposite promise to provide everything free. i will vote for them..Originally posted by BillyBong:Before you go overboard, ask yourself if the alternatives are really proposing such things:
Did they propose 'free transport'?
Did they propose 'free housing'?
Did they propose minimum salary of 2k??!?
Did they say give the reserves to the people?
What they proposed was subsidised transport, but PAP members exaggerated their comments into 'asking for freebies'. What Low Thia Khiang proposed was for a larger amount of reserves to be used to offset the rising costs of living and the PM Lee's budget plan. Instead, he was mocked and all his suggestions were exaggerated into claims that the alternatives were only interested in backrupting the reserves and finding the 'easy way out'.
Was this in anyway part of the alternatives' objective? Or is this how crafty our ruling party is in twisting the comments of others to serve their purposes? This is politics, and it is up to us to read through the lines.
Chiam See Tong also asked if a minimum salary cap can be provided for local white and blue-collared workers to safeguard their families; he did not demand an outright figure from the govt. Yet you seem to have managed to misinterpret his intentions.
Should the alternatives be lambasted for your ignorance?
pls be rational and stop branding people as pap supporter.Originally posted by Fingolfin_Noldor:There is a saying, give an inch, take a yard. Think hard, and quit spouting propaganda.
And do be a little more original with the nicknames. One mushroom is enough, much less another PAP supporter.
yeah that right.. vote for them.. i wan my freebies..Originally posted by tarutaru:if we don't give the opposition the oppotunity how can we know they cannot rule the country right?
There is no need to blindfold you, you can't see (my opinion), due to you idiocy.Originally posted by chiabaliao:Neither do I want to be blindfolded and told to turn left and right like dumb sheep. Nothing to do with your station in life. Please, only your opinions.

i dont know much about how corruption will affect a country, so i wont comment on that
u wan everything free...?then u no need to work..?then no tax to pay the government..?no GDP..?no improvements...?u are juz lazy...
since when did we ever say we wanted EVERYTHING free?
i believe in value for money. y should the price increase/ we be double or triple charged when the person who is providing the product/service is not doing a good job?
think if no prices increase...and the onli thing that increases is ur salary...businesses will start going bankrupt and u will have no job..?er...and u will be back in the vicious rural cycle again..u wanna plant corn for a living or sit in the office and enjoy the aircon..?
o rly? what makes u think that the salary will increase?
y the government increases the GST and prices tags but not increase the pay..?coz the government needs u to improve urself too..push urself and u can make more money...if u expect urself not to improve and juz keep getting pay increase...pls go somewhere else and plant corn...or rice..?or fruits..?that suits u better..?
then is the government improving? y do they have a pay increment? how do u judge improvement? and to earn more money... how? take up two jobs? cos no matter how hard u work in 1 job, the pay wont increase. and if parents take up two jobs, they wont have time to communicate with their kids, and they turn bad, whose fault? the parents'
and farming is a small but important industry in singapore. when there is a crisis, that is our only source of food. its seems like u despise that sector.
if u wan the nation to improve on a whole..everyone has to improve themselves too...in sense of education..knowledge..abilities...pls answer the question on how the nation can improve if people continue to remain stagnant on where they are..?
o... so u are calling us to get some more skills, but wat for? i dont see your point.
if u think that china is good...pls understand that we have passed that era...and we have passed the stage of development where they are in...we are in a stage of development where all first world countries have been through...so if u like the stage where china is in..pls go there...china will reach our stage someday too...then u can go on to africa...?then u can start ur own country if u think africa has passed that stage too...
i dont understand. china will very soon get ahead of us in almost every aspect, so y not jump onto the bandwagon now and reap benifits later?
u guys should juz remember...the people makes up the nation...without u...there is no nation...if u improve...the nation improve...if the nation improve..ur life will improve too...but if the nation becomes a piece of junk...the people becomes junk too...suddenly i feel that om makes much more sense then u. both mushroom, but so much difference
Sounds like an artificial way of keeping us in a developing nation mode.Originally posted by freakass:Remember, we cannot afford to take any chances.

that why u opposition supporters also sprouting opposition propaganda.
And do you dare to call me a clone?![]()
If you can beat them in their work and give good value for money, you get the job. Employers are not stupid and businesses are not charities. Singaporeans lose jobs because they cannot compete with foreigners who can do the same job for less money. That's why Singaporeans have to move up the food chain.Originally posted by soul_rage:And becoz of these people (which I will tell you they are no foreign talent, I can beat any one of them in their work), a lot of Singaporeans lost their jobs.

As for me, I AM an elite, coz I defeated all the young PAPs academically or career-wise. I wish them good luck in hankering for the MP post (part time job: 11k a month salary). I have no love for this country. I am a mercenary, all I care about is myself, to always beat the average, to always be the best, to consistently outperform the rest so that I don't need the govt. They can go ahead and brag about their small little kingdom of Singapore.
