overgeneralisation. 30 to 40 years ago, or even before independence, education was more difficult to come by. do ur history homework before u comment.Originally posted by qpicanto:Despite it self-glorification by its mouthpiece, a HUGE chunk of the workforce adult population has primary or no eduation, about 25%-30% of the total workforce.
Plus those not in the work force, it is easily a third of the population.
What has the govt been doing or not done that resulted in today scenario?

Not too difficult to understand when the educational system here is only meant to produce elites to serve the ruling party and sieve out the rest. Principals, teachers, parents, and students are all under tremendous pressure to produce A's. Who cares about education any more?Originally posted by qpicanto:Despite it self-glorification by its mouthpiece, a HUGE chunk of the workforce adult population has primary or no eduation, about 25%-30% of the total workforce.

That was already the policy even in 1965. Those days, the losers dropped out. Now, they are forced to go ITE (It's The End).Originally posted by hiphop2009:TS is saying our workforce, who are people born 20 to 40 years ago.

And more and more girls are marrying non-Chinese as well. I can see what the trend is going to be. In fact the situation has reached a point where a China national will find it much harder to integrate into Singapore than any other nationals.Originally posted by ShutterBug:I noted many PAP Kindergartens are closing because of low or lack of head count. Most are enroling in private and churches which is said to impart BETTER knowledge and better English education!
It was said that most children who attended those PAP Kindergartens, end up speaking Mandarin more and are POOR in English.
So, tell me... WHAT the FARK are they doing????![]()
