the percentage of women in politics, merely demonstrates the general interest women have towards participating in politics. i think it can safely be said that women in singapore are given fair education opportunities, so any discrepency in their representation in parliament is their own doing.
i think the focus should be more on encouraging women who are interested in, and qualify for positions in parliament, as opposed to having a set quota for women in politics, that must be met irregardless of whether the candidates are eligible or not. this seems to be the path AWARE is taking, and is no different from malaysian universities having a set quota of malays that must be met, in universities.
