u make it sounds like u scolded TS for writing this. he also "cheated" coz he copied the news and paste it hereOriginally posted by dreameryb:WTF is the matter with your comprehension? Did the article conclude that Chinese nationals are cheats? In what ways does this article substantiate your claim that Chinese nationals are cheats? The article reports academic plagarism in a 3rd, 4th tier school from a country that is no where close to having acheived international reputation in its higher education. Are you deliberately and viciously turning a deaf ear to the different voices in the report? No, it is not right to cheat. But it is an abysmally vicious twist of argument when you generalize this isolated incident to the character of a whole nation.
Correct. Being prejudiced wouldn't help matters and could lead to hostility. Since the PRC are here to stay for sure why don't we try to open our mind and learn as much about them as possible? This will enable both sides to have a better understanding of each other's psyche and culture which will bring about a richer, happier and more harmonious co-existence.Originally posted by dreameryb:WTF is the matter with your comprehension? I have to admit some people from China is not wise with what they did. And I am very sorry about that. But you shouldn't scold all of us with your impolite words. You already broke my good impression on SG and its people for your racism words!Originally posted by allentyb:i will not call those PRC cheaters, BUT THEY REALLY NEED TO WORK ON THEIR GOD DAMN ETIQUETTE AND TILL TODAY, I WILL STILL CALL THEM, UNCIVILISED PIG!!!!!!!!
i am sorry if i have offended with that word, pigOriginally posted by Zarrior:I have to admit some people from China is not wise with what they did. And I am very sorry about that. I have said you can condemn some people from China. But Plz do not point at all of us! Since I came here for half a year, I have adapt your society. I didnt do any rude action. I also think about how to correct my mistake before to adapt this new situation. I don't think I never ever earn the respect of singaporean and I always remenber I am in Singapore for study from China and what ever I do is not just represent myself but my mother country China. So plz do not consider us with bias. Considering everything should detach it into different parts.Originally posted by allentyb:i am sorry if i have offended with that word, pig
make note of this, they really need to know how to adapt to the current situation, and its not a racism remark, so please, its name calling, and alot of time, they can be rude, worst of all, they don't think they have done anything wrong, now, i have read before, in the newspaper, china people calling us names before, criticize about singapore before, newspaper report that singaporean got cheated in china, negative report about china. Until the day, china people learn how to be humble in singapore or they will never EVER earn the respect of singaporean, Remember your place
a few people from China do not represent the whole of China, so a few singaporean here do not represent all singaporeans. As singaporean, most of us stand tall, on equal footing with people from all countries. If you are here to study as students, or to do business and contribute to the society, you are most welcome. We don't resort to name callings, and to those who resort to name calling, their respect worth nothing. Ignore this people, adapt to our society, and enjoy your stay in singapore.Originally posted by Zarrior:I have said you can condemn some people from China. But Plz do not point at all of us! Well, so far, there has been more scams, frauds, and con-jobs from PRCs in Singapore than any other nationals. I mean, just look at the number of shady ways they are gaining access into our country; fake PDMMs, faked Student Pass, fake Marriages, whatever innovative ways they can think up to make that extra buck, you name it they thought of it.Originally posted by fudgester:To the TS:
Eh hello....
Just because some PRC students resort to cheating, does that mean that ALL of them are? The very fact that you say that this article is a 'Refreshing Testimonial' and that 'PRCs are Cheats' shows that you're stereotyping.
When you're liberal with the use of the brush and tar, be prepared to get some of the tar on your hands.
Unless you can unequivocally prove that every single PRC national is involved in scams, frauds, and con-jobs, I shall stick to my stand that you are stereotyping. The fact that you say that 'PRCs are Cheats' in the title to this thread shows that you're not qualifying your statement at all with the caveat that there are honest PRC nationals after all.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Well, so far, there has been more scams, frauds, and con-jobs from PRCs in Singapore than any other nationals. So, WHAT stereotyping???
Just look up the archives of Straits Times the number of articles on 'the things' they do just for money....and "progress"...
I'm happy to note that I'm not the only one very much against racial stereotyping and racial bias. If we feel threatened by the presence of FTs, then we should address the issue of FTs, not pick on any race.Originally posted by fudgester:Unless you can unequivocally prove that every single PRC national is involved in scams, frauds, and con-jobs, I shall stick to my stand that you are stereotyping. And the fact that you call the article in question a 'Refreshing Testimonial' shows that you are in glee over this.
For your information, I have personally caught one of my team members (a local, mind you) red-handed for outright plagiarism: http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=241796
So how? Should I apply your logic and say that all Singaporeans are cheats? Oh no!
Pfft. I think I'm wasting my breath trying to whack the fallacy of your logic. In the national language of our country, I hereby say the following to you:

I'm glad that most are willing to denounce his worthless views.
Carry on!
Nice evasion, but could use more flair and creativity.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Oh ok, lets not leave out New Zealand and the rest of the world...![]()
