Hi ppl!
Just want to know any of u got called up to take the 5 hour pilot's aptitude test b4? I got called up and I am really curious on what they will test me on. I love to be a pilot and hope to be better prepared for the test...so what does it consist of? And what are the success rates?

No idea dude. best is to remain clueless i guess. Better to pass the test on ur own than to fake it. lest u get into something u don't like or not capable of handling.

Luke (if that is your name) firstly you cannot go around tell ppl that you are joining THE AIR FORCE. The aptitude is just a routine to filter out the cream.
1. Physically you are fit to be a pilot (not like commandos but able to withstand the G-force)
2. Mentally (no explanation with all the papers they are looking for)
3. Politically - MOST IMPORTANT TO GET YOU IN
a) Try to be a PSC scholar - it will help you get in & also advance you career if you donÂ’t want to become a bus-driver in SIA after reaching 35. Lucky 40 if you are a Major & 50 for LTC.
b) Your family record must be clean, not anti-PAP, no jail or corruptions by your ancestor or any police record.
c) After the test they will monitor you to see if you are a loud mouth going around letting our secrets & so on..(This is no joke) Cos a pilot hold top secret information More than normal army LTC or even general level of secrecy.

Hey Euphratis, u a pilot? I heard from my friend that those ppl having a higher percentage score in the 2 hour cmpb test usually gets called up,.. not to boast or anything but is it true in any sense?>

Actually, first u have to have perfect eyesight, or at least correctable. Then they see the score. I THINK.

Yeah to be a pilot if u don't how u wanna give up?Cummon there are ways to be a pilot. Just you wanna fly vipers but they give you a transport detail how? Do you feel sucks? Well try and get a private pilots license and be an aerobatic pilot there are none in this region I tell ya! -
Being a pilot in itself is already good and besides, even if you were in USAF you would not be guaranteed of a posting to fighters..everywhere else the same situation.
As for aerobatic pilot, one start up like that cost two sponsors at least a million minus the aircraft. Pioneer in Asia? Rather impractical as Aerospace sponsors are not willing...even they want to they look for an experienced pilot not some greenhorn who never flew much. -
Have some basic knowledge of the aircraft instrument( AH (most importent instrument), Altimeter, ASI etc) and learn how to interpret them. Mental and IQ test will be conducted and not forget the test on ur eye hand and leg coordination. One more thing, u must have a good set of teeth beside eyesight to be a fighter pilot. -

The purpose of the aptitude test is to test ya individual analysis skills in handling matters... U noe, being a pilot..u dun juz flew a plane and that's all, it's more than juz that!
U have to be a multi-tasking individual that is able to handle the stress and pressure while manuvering the aircraft!
Juz check this out...while flying,
Your eyes have to look at the surrounding 4 awareness but not forgeting the instuments in ya cockpit.
Your ears need to hear the voice command from air traffic controller or ya fellow pilots 4 communication...
Your hands 4 controlling of ya control stick....
And your feets 4 controling the rudders...
So r u a multi-tasker? The aptitude test will sort u out!!! -

i have. when through the tests but still didn't make it (bços of educational level). there's nothing u need to know or be anxious about cos everything is by ur own iq n maybe eq? just go with the attitude of learning and try and do everything on first instinct...human as well as killer instincts.Originally posted by jedidarklighter:Hey Thanks for the tips guys appreciate it.........

before/during/after bmt?
have u gotten back ur results?
i took mine 2 months back and have not heard anything from them. -
Well, I took it b4 Bmt anyway I'm still in JC and your results are notified only if u call the Air Force Recruitment Centre and ask for your CPSS results..give name and IC number.

i did call them and gave my IC number. but they told me results can only be revealed if i APPLIED for the vocation, otherwise its confidential.
what sort of letter did they send u when they asked u to go for the cpss test? -
Yes that is true I'm afraid that u have to apply for post of pilot. Worth a go but think about it first, anyway the CPSS results have no expiry date.
They sent me a letter which says I am to go for this test which is compulsory meaning I didn't go and apply for post of pilot.
It is after I took the test then I applied for pilot. -
Whilst in BMT, I took up the Figher Pilots Program, which consist of Medical, Coordination test and 2 interviews.
Started off with 32 candidates. before medical screening starts, 2 had been kicked out. After Medical, 9 more were booted. After 5 hrs of computer test at CMPB, further 15 got kicked out. I managed to hold out to the remaining 6 where during the interview where I sat upon a panel of 3 Interviewees in which 1 of them is Liet Col., a Capt, psychologist.
Didn't quite make it when they asked whether I prefer Commercial or Air force. I said I prefer commercial but don't mind airforce. It was only then I realise how dumb I was. By the way. You only have 1 chance. If you fail the Fighter Pilots Program, you cannot retake ever in your life.

Hmmm this is all rather enlightening and since Flight Cadet Officer went through so much...i would like to ask what's in the interview? THey always tell mi stuff like they're searching for some X-factor....i am really bewildered hearing that cos' its such a non-description way of telling things....

I can't exactly tell you what sort of questions they ask. But a tip would be to know the background of RSAF. The countries that train specific aircraft type.
What aircrafts RSAF uses. Know abit of technical specs. would be useful like ILS system, HUD, max speed, range, what is an AIM 120 missle ?. etc. Not necessary, but impress the interview board.
Find out when the RSAF was developed, what planes they used initially, how many pilots ? how many airbase are there in Singapore and overseas ? so on.
Usually a hand-out has been prepared prior the interview for the rookies to view.
You can be sure its normal everyday questions. Some wierd ones like What do you think about your parents ?
Be honest. psychologist can tell if you lie. -
If you really wanted to be a pilot in RSAF, some of these stuff you would have already known. And if you don't and still don't, well it shows a lack of resourcefulness. No offense bud, but u need to work harder.

That's gonna help a lot! As for shotgun its ok no offence taken but yeah I know most of the stuff like ILS HUD and other impt stuff as I read up on it and play simulators but to tell u the truth...I wasn't expecting to tell the history of RSAF. I did read up on it in the library but now I think I have to remember some facts that I have gone through with a fine tooth comb. Yeah guess that part caught me by surprise
