A second Indonesian navy commander has urged his country's government to impose a ban on the export of granite barely weeks after Jakarta halted the sale of sand to other countries.Bloody fcuking parrot, what does a navy commander know about the environment. If granite mining has a negative impact on the environment, why now then impose the ban, why not earlier. Every single one of the Indonesian leaders should first learn to grow up & wake up their bloody ideas.
According to Antara news agency, the commander of the Indonesian Navy's Western Fleet, Junior Marshal Mulyono, said that Jakarta should impose a granite export ban because of the impact granite mining has had on the environment.
Bloody fcuking parrot, what does a navy commander know about the environment. Why can't a navy commander know about the environment? Is it only right if it's an environmentalist speaking?
Indoneasia ''Shadow Play''....... Just in case S'pore really got piss and teach them back somehow..... SBY could always claim nothing was said by him. Only 'other' ministers are to blame for 'souring' the relationship.....Originally posted by Slipshade:Why can't a navy commander know about the environment? Well, what do you propose we do then? Maintain a picket line at the Riau boundary or economic manipulation to show them who's boss? Could this be linked to the Shin Corp saga, and how our neighbouring politicians may see us as being able to ruin administrations, therefore they want to assert more control in an attempt to feel good?Originally posted by 00011000:I would put it this way. In S E Asia, Singapore is the small skinny, whinny boy-in-the-neighbourhood.
We are our neighbours' traditional whipping boy. When unhappy, sad, sick or bankrupt, get the whipping boy out for bashing.
Be thankful that we are not living a century ago. Back then, it was riot. Imagine, the Acehness attacked Johor and carted the whole population back as slaves. The Bugis alternated between traders-of-the-sea and pirates-of-the-sea and many more strange but true stories.
To hell with LKY's crystal ball reading about the future. A first world, vibrant economy within the next ten years. History is a cycle. The events of history may not repeat exactly but a nation's historical rise and fall will always be cyclical.
I prefer what he said before he stepped down. "The tide is still against us". In fact, the tide will always be against us. In his book, he mentioned about Mao. "Mao is a writing on mosaic. When the rain comes, it washes away his's painting to review the centuries old."
Ironically, I think this applies to Singapore. Singapore and Singaporean sooner or later (can be tomorrow or centuries from now) will have to come to term with the truth about Singapore.
Such event only shows us one thing. It is not enough or merely enough for our govt to say that Singaporean understands about not giving into pressure from our neighbours.
Not giving into pressure would also mean speaking back. Judicious and appropriate timing. Keeping quiet all the time would only perpetual the myth or the truth among our neighbours that we are weak and thus deserve our status as their whipping boy.
Did I said confrontation with them? I am not specifically referring to the Shin and the sandy issues.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Well, what do you propose we do then? We do not say much, but like I said, what are the alternatives?Originally posted by 00011000:Did I said confrontation with them? I am not specifically referring to the Shin and the sandy issues.
I am referring to our long govt standing of shutting ourself up each time we have trouble with our neighbours. How is that good for our long term reputation as a independant nation?
I don't think the issues you mentioned are for us ordinary Singaporean to deal with. They are beyond us.Originally posted by LazerLordz:We do not say much, but like I said, what are the alternatives?![]()
