  i have a friend who was once involved in illegal activites once. He was once a ciminal. Three years ago he was caught selling pirated vcd. But got away as warning. Today three years later he was engaged with his financee and vow to start a new and he did. He started to take part time course whilst working and he got his certificate and now currently he is having his part time diploma course.
  
  Good things ome to an end when a week ago, a police officier came knocking at his door saying the he will be taken to court for the vcd case which he committed three years back. He was stunned and his life was totally messed up right now. He face 2 choices now, either to pay the fine or go to jail.
  
  As his friend i personally feel that this is totally ridculous!! The police is actually charge him only after 3 years when he had already started a new life!?!? What the fuck!! i thought the legal system is actually meant to bring people back to right path and now he is throwing my friend back to where he started!!! I am aware that the police is able to take charge of a person even after years but this is not the right way to do! During these 3 years, he wasn't involved in any illegally activities anymore and now they are charge them. So what if they can't repay the fine which is 5 digit figure! They will be jailed
  
  WHAT THE FUCK, I AM TOTALLY PISSED OFF WITH THE SINGAPORE LEGAL SYSTEM.
  Afterall law are meant to protected the wealthy and power.

  he got blacklisted in the police records during his initlal apprehension for peddaling piracy and commiting misdemeanor.

  there maybe a similar related crime committed by your friend before taking place recently, guess the police may not have found the real culprit, so they turn to the blacklisters for answer.
  hes being charged by the municipal law which allows that above instance to happen.

  Singapore is the most FUCK Up country I have ever come across.. pardon my french.
  I have yet to see or feel a country that is as belittling and scheming as this country...
  I was born as a first generation here but not brought up here...
  It has a system, mind you not just the legal but the System in general as an unforgiving and duoble standard system...
  The country make a real big mistake on you.. the Government will cover it up... or offer an apology to you... "SORRY"
  While the other way around...
  WATCH out...
  any time anywhere... when you least expect it...
  you are going to get it... and when you do...
  be prepared for it .. they will DRAIN you dry... and suck on your marrow...
  they will rape your family and butcher your parents....
  
  Singaporeans... if you can leave this GOD FORSAKEN island.. let the PM be the Taxi driver.. be the bus driver.. be the father that worries about job at day... and rolls and turns on the bed at night cause he is worried about his child's education.. worried that his child cannot keep up .. worried that he may not afford the home he lives in.. worried that the feul price in SIngapore is going up..
  worried that the road tax ... worried about his water and electricity bills...
  worried that he may not be able to worry again...
  
  WORRY my friends...
  leave for real greener pastures.. the grass is indeed greener every where else except here...
  Once you have fulfilled your basic education... Pack your bags... sell your house.. cash in on your CPF...
  .and leave for good...
  you will be better anywhere than here.....

  Just imagine the position of my friend. I guess there are many out there who suffer the same fate as mine him.
  
  Think about it what happen if they charge people for things they have done 10 years ago?? Probably the "victim"'s family will ......

  To whom it may concern,
  
  I have read your article.
  
  Prior to committing the criminal act (in the case, selling of pirated vcd), he had a choice - to sell (face the music) or against selling it (life goes on as before).
  
  Once he had committed this crime, he will have to bear the consequences. Ignorant about what it leads to is no defence.
  
  He was lucky enough to have been given a warning and been given a new start. Under the penal code,once a criminal act is committed, he can be prosecuted to court for a proceeding regardless when. There is no case (guilty as charged and convicted) There is no expiration for criminal act. 3 yrs later, he still had a choice, either pay the fine or face the jail sentence, not many prosecuted could say that they had such luck.
  
  He could have been convicted with a minimum of few months in jail, in addition with a fine.
  
  Blessing in disguise, in my humble opinon.

  Your friend should just face the music once and for all and hopefully the past will trully be behind.
  
  In this lawful country of ours, we must be very mindful of every actions that we do 'cos you will never know when the past will come and catch up with us.
  
  Just wondering why the police reopen the case again after so long. Must be an agenda behind it.
