There are too many cities in the world with one or two casinos, and only a few casino cities in the world really stand out; Vegas, Macau and Monaco.
Each of these 3 is diff, how will Singapore stand out from these 3 cities? Or will Singapore join the dozens of unknow gambling joints around the world?
In another way, yes.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:This is saying... "If you want to be the best conman, be the best conman in the world..."![]()
they strange thing about casino gambling is that there is one born everyday for the casino to fool...Originally posted by Hogzilla:In another way, yes.
Macau managed to substain itself with casino alone; Monaco is even better, it not only substain itself, it even provide a better life for it's residents. Monaco's residents don't need to pay tax and yet they enjoy things like free cable TV and broadband, all at the expense of their Prince (according from what I saw in Dicovery Travel and Living) They also don't need to serve army, their soldiers came from France; I'm not so sure about Vegas though
Those people working at Raffles Place can go visit the casino one hour before office starts, one hour during lunchtime and one hour after work.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:they strange thing about casino gambling is that there is one born everyday for the casino to fool...
The thing about Macau is that they have nothing and so their citizens in a way have nothing to lose...
Monaco, even the prince cannot step into the casino because citizens cannot go in
Las Vegas in in a desert and so the US citizens are protected by distance and remoteness.
Singapore? Many will go after work and die or at least get conned by the casino.

Adds a little spice to their otherwise mundane working life.
And if time permits, they can also visit the pole dancers at the casino lounges.
No lah..... AndrewPKYap is just Anti everything the govt do..... and it is his right to say that he worry the IR might affect S'porean.... But just like to add that he seems to forget without the IRs..... already got S'poreans jumping into tracks..... already got S'poreans kena con..... already got S'poreans losing all their moneys......Originally posted by IIOOII:base on the logic and arguement put up by AndrewPKYap and charlize, all singaporeans by now would have lost all their money and fortune to Totos, 4-Ds and turf club, and basically all Singaporeans have no brain and are diet hard gamblers; it seems if i put a knife in front of AndrewPKYap and charlize, they will either take the knife to kill themselves or to kill me.

I am pretty sure Crazy House or similar joint will be back. they are Just waiting for the IR to start and maybe have the show at Marina IR instead.Originally posted by IIOOII:Hi hloc, i think most singaporeans are like you, so actually there is nothing to worry; i only see queing for toto once a year during chinese new year. Even crazy horse cannot make singapore go crazy, thus they have to go home, but although quite sad as they have to leave because of strict advertisement rules thus no tourist knows about them.
Wrong lah..... too many type of ppl in S'pore. Maybe we agree on certain things but disagree on others..... this is what keeps the world from going boring.Originally posted by IIOOII:Hi hloc, i think most singaporeans are like you, so actually there is nothing to worry; i only see queing for toto once a year during chinese new year. By the way..... read in today's TODAY paper, that some guy against the idea of F1 racing in S'pore. Anyone have a view ??
Me support the F1. I'm not a racing fan, but like the idea of big time sports event held in S'pore. Hope the Govt don't co*k-up and think too small. Inorder for the event to be sucessful, $$$$ must be pump in. For crying out loud.... [b]nothing Good is ever Cheap. Think about it...... every year can see F1 racing around CBD + the new IR...... F1 fans will come from all over the world and stay in the IRs and hotels...... can always 'ask' the IRs to sponsor abit for the race lah....... good business for them also.....
What you guys/gals think![]()

I agree...... but now worry Govt trying to be ''Cheap" again..... hoping not to spend $$$ to make more $$$. All the hotels and business around S'pore will benefit from this yearly event.....Originally posted by Gazelle:The someone who oppose to F1 is definitely not aware about the amount of money STB is already spending around the world wooing tourist to Singapore. The beauty of F1 is it allows the audience to be glued to the TV for at least 2 hours and it give us the perfect opportunity to let the FIA camera man show case what Singapore is about.
From what I understand, PM office is pushing very hard to this and for minister to even bring this up in the parliment, it is already a sign that budget for F1 has already been approved.Originally posted by hloc:I agree...... but now worry Govt trying to be ''Cheap" again..... hoping not to spend $$$ to make more $$$. what i really hope is that with the government sponsoring part of the fee the organizer will be kind enough to not to overcharge the ticket so that Singaporeans from all walks of life will be able to watch the race.
All hotels whore restaurant clubs etc will all be over booked.![]()
