IR - Vegas, Macau or Monaco?

My motto is "If you want to do it, be the best there is to be"
There are too many cities in the world with one or two casinos, and only a few casino cities in the world really stand out; Vegas, Macau and Monaco.
Each of these 3 is diff, how will Singapore stand out from these 3 cities? Or will Singapore join the dozens of unknow gambling joints around the world? -
i think singapore is trying to promote uniqueness -
Our IR definitely offers something unique.
Like having to pay $100 to step into the casino just because you are a Singaporean.

Macau managed to substain itself with casino alone; Monaco is even better, it not only substain itself, it even provide a better life for it's residents. Monaco's residents don't need to pay tax and yet they enjoy things like free cable TV and broadband, all at the expense of their Prince (according from what I saw in Dicovery Travel and Living) They also don't need to serve army, their soldiers came from France; I'm not so sure about Vegas though -

base on the logic and arguement put up by AndrewPKYap and charlize, all singaporeans by now would have lost all their money and fortune to Totos, 4-Ds and turf club, and basically all Singaporeans have no brain and are diet hard gamblers; it seems if i put a knife in front of AndrewPKYap and charlize, they will either take the knife to kill themselves or to kill me.

No lah..... AndrewPKYap is just Anti everything the govt do..... and it is his right to say that he worry the IR might affect S'porean.... Hi hloc, i think most singaporeans are like you, so actually there is nothing to worry; i only see queing for toto once a year during chinese new year. Even crazy horse cannot make singapore go crazy, thus they have to go home, but although quite sad as they have to leave because of strict advertisement rules thus no tourist knows about them.

i do hope Singapore can be a combination of Monaco/Paris and Venice of the east, the problem is we have to do it at night as the day time heat will melt all the tourist away.

Wrong lah..... too many type of ppl in S'pore. just a little story - When a friend of mine found out that the Govt will restrict S'porean from going into the Casino part of the IR.... he blow his top.... complainting that the Govt have no right to stop him from gambling if he wanted to. Just to show that some will agree with the IR, some don't.
About crazy horse..... to $$$$ lah. For the same amount, I could get "REAL" action, instead of see action....... -
By the way..... read in today's TODAY paper, that some guy against the idea of F1 racing in S'pore. Anyone have a view ??
Me support the F1. I'm not a racing fan, but like the idea of big time sports event held in S'pore. Hope the Govt don't co*k-up and think too small. Inorder for the event to be sucessful, $$$$ must be pump in. For crying out loud.... nothing Good is ever Cheap. Think about it...... every year can see F1 racing around CBD + the new IR...... F1 fans will come from all over the world and stay in the IRs and hotels...... can always 'ask' the IRs to sponsor abit for the race lah....... good business for them also.....

The beauty of F1 is it allows the audience to be glued to the TV for at least 2 hours and it give us the perfect opportunity to let the FIA camera man show case what Singapore is about. -
I agree...... but now worry Govt trying to be ''Cheap" again..... hoping not to spend $$$ to make more $$$. what i really hope is that with the government sponsoring part of the fee the organizer will be kind enough to not to overcharge the ticket so that Singaporeans from all walks of life will be able to watch the race.
All hotels w.hore restaurant clubs etc will all be over booked. -

F1 will be one of the greatest test for singapore, but i think if F1 were to really be held here, die hard F1 fans from around the world will be disappointed, why?
reason
1) for years many , many people (including me) feels that singapores skyline and architects are too boring, i love my country but i am also realistic; our city view is like any other large cities, there is no prominent land mark(except for a small little merlion). the much praise durian is nothing compared to top cultural centres like sydney opera house or the spanish gugenheim museum. The durian is special in singapore but when compared to the world it is no even a worthy attempt. thus F1 city race here will not be as beautiful as Monacos. No thanks to previous URA genius.
2) lights. there is none in Singapore city night scene. Those who visited HK, Times square and Ginza will tell you Singapore is dim at night. Thus F1 night race will be a bore. Even many cities in China now adays, (who started some 20yrs later than us), b cos of the more relax advertisement rule is so much more colour ful and vibrant
