While I do not agree with many of the current FT policies, it would be certain death for us to assume that we can shut the doors and home-brew our economy. A lot of things we take for granted indeed are dependent on FTs to add the spice to it, and I think it's unreasonable to think that there's such a thing as a free lunch.
Certainly a lot of the policies on FTs have been at the expense of the average Singaporean, but then again an error in the opposite direction is still an error. Is there an good solution to this FT issue? I have yet to see one but I don't recommend allentyb's approach of vulgarity spewing and screaming like a madman.

the govt should set quota and allow FTs only in specific field, not anywhere and everywhere.

Go compare it to the Australian Department of Immigration.
They want them to return to their home country and get experience before coming back to Australia.
Even my sister has to apply based on my parents' permanent residency now or it will be a long wait . -

They only allow foreign employees if there is no supply or very scarce supply of the skills. Company must explain like hell why they cannot employ an Australian or an Australian permanent resident if it is not related to supply. -

I think we are in a chicken and egg situation. I am damm fed up with the import of soooo many Indians taking over IT jobs. What the heck! Govt said we are not producing enough, so must import F.T. Well, the answer is because Sgporeans don't feel secure. No security over future, who wants to have kids? Do they think these FT will want to stay and do N.S. and defend Singapore?

It is not the number but the quality. If Singaporeans will not work in wafer fabs, we have to import foreign workers who will. If Singaporeans do not have the expertise to work in biomedical industries, we have to import foreign talent who can. Foreign workers are not necessarily citizens. Those who succeed in obtaining citizenship by and large have good jobs and skills. -
so it on FT again... trying to do some correction on their part. they are saying that all this time they have get the correct FT in for the job but some how down the line any tom dick harry become FT and come into SG.
FT form manager level down to road sweeper??? even the road sweeper oso know, work and pack up go back to his own country but as Singaporean who went oversea and never come back. their country have "things" for them... what do Singapore have to give for Singaporean when we come back??? can't think of any great things but lots of pay and pay... i will be rather pay and pay else where when they have more "room" "opportunity" for me than to pay and pay here...
something is just no right with the system. pay scale? management? costing? loosing ground all the way? FT who stay rope in and become one of MIW? Singapore is not a country anymore.... more of a "political party." some may like to used the "C" word.

No, you don't have to be sorry... what about being careful? You just made a mistake that only sia sway yourself and entertain others, not to mention written a couple of long posts on a faulty assumption. And best you made this mistake not because people trick you, but because in your haste to chiong you never even read properly.
You should take some time to think before pouncing on anybody in here, then maybe you can avoid making such basic mistakes like not even realizing what not being part of 66.6% is.
The truth is, many people in here probably hold the same position with you on many issues, but the way you arse about in here either turns them off, or you end up attacking those that might be your allies in the first place. If you haven't noticed, if you bother to read the posting histories of others that you might not like in here... a lot of them are actually the anti-establishment you are trying to find in the first place, but because of a little thing here and a little thing there you end up flaming them.
So I must honestly tell you, it's quite funny... not to mention actually HELPING your REAL opponents, not harming them by wacking people who are actually on your side.
Try something, it's called tolerance and flexibility. The enemy of my enemy is my friend... not everybody but anybody that is absolutely like me is my enemy.
You know there's a saying about flamers, that they need to wear fireproof boots because they often end up burning their own feet. Anybody can flame, but only really smart people make a proper argument. At the end of the day you can outshout someone, but who really wins is another matter. The person who wins the flame war might actually be the real loser in the end as his opponent has managed to bait him into revealing his own inconsistencies.

While your Japanese "Banzai!" charging style of argument is very noisy and impressive... might I suggest another tatic that works a lot better... namely something called "fight smart and know your true friends and foe"?
