According to http://www.malaysiakini.com.libproxy1.nus.edu.sg/news/65244, Malaysia ex-PM Dr Mahathir made a speech in Johor yesterday and said that “if Singapore had been mostly populated by Malays, there might not have been a secession. Who knows what would have transpired in the event that the island was populated mostly by Malays…”
Hmmm, letÂ’s fantasise that SÂ’pore IS still a part of the Federation of MalaysiaÂ…What would the state of SÂ’pore be like under MÂ’sia???

not necessarily true because there will still be the local Singapore government and looking at the way the Federal Government treats the local governments of Kelantan and Trengannu... they seem to have lots of freeway to run the state.
the current elites will not have it so good as they do now and will not be able to oppress and suppress the people as they do now.
For the rest of us? life might be better as everything will cost less for one... due to competition at the political arena nobody will dare to take our money and give it to THAIS, for example. -

I am not saying that the present government is bad... all I am saying is that they reward themselves and their cronies and the rich the benefits of the "progress".
They saddle the average Singaporeans with heavy debt and take what the average Singaporeans could have given to their children and grandchildren. Instead, they take away Singaporeans hard earned money for their own purposes. -
Mahathir could have meant it was a loss for the people of Singapore; not a loss for the P*P

An avg Malaysian worker earns less that half of what a S'porean worker gets.... Thats why so many Malaysian citizens willingly come over the causeway daily to earn a living. You pay less for stuffs..... in return your pay is also low..... not something I would want when going overseas. -

If Singapore remained part of the Malaysian Federation,
1. every morning ten of thousands of singaporean would be travelling over to JB to work.
2. Singapore government would take very little from singaporean cause there is nothing much they can take.
3. Singaporean's year end holiday would be to visit KL and take photo in front of the twin towers.
4. Instead of giving money to the Thai, Singaporean would be welcoming Thai tourists and take the money from the Thai.
5. There would be no super expensive HDB, and attap houses would go for a song, because all the rich would go to KL and buy condo.
6. The local elites would be serving the master in KL instead of the master in Singapore, the poor would remain poor, what a pathetic life!
Mahathir really got big problem now. I remember years ago when he spoke in JB, it was at the stadium with 5000 people, now only 300 listened to him. The next time he would be speaking only to 20 people, may be those who agree with him should make a trip there to support him. -
Soon, in future, Singapore may be largely populated PRCs...
