Sad.... but trueOriginally posted by mistyblue:the world do not care.
Sad to say but all above are true. Just name me 1 thing they had done that benefits the country.Originally posted by BillyBong:While the ministers and PAP MPs have vigorously defended the so-called 'formula' for benchmarking salaries, has it occured that no one has actually put forth the tangible justifications why they should be given a pay rise?
While the previous generation of ministers like Goh Keng Swee and Hon Sui Sen can be credited with transforming our backwater nation into a triving metropolis, with the proper sanitation and housing to match, what does this current bunch of so-called cream de la cream have to show for?
We see more and more police outsourcing to private security firms.
TP has outsourced their responsibility of assessing road accidents, injured or not.
If people get whacked on the street, but suffer no broken bones, the police will NOT get involved and 'complaints' will have to be lodged with the magistrate's court. The result is that street thugs and road bullies feel more brazen over the years. There has been a spike in petty crime and road rage because of this.
Traffic wardens caught on camera double parking while having breakfast when they are supposed to be on duty.
Normal MPs now being paid up to 13K for occasionally dozing off in parliament. MM Lee himself is culpable of this 'indulgence'.
Daily road congestions on our expressways, while our brilliant LTA planners claim the 'infallible' ERP system is solving the problem?
Embarrassing arguments between our ALPA-S and SIA management over unfair pay packages.
Safety lapes in the construction industry, as in the circle line collapse, which was MANAGED by a govt agency in LTA.
An 800 mil tuition fee of taxpayer's monies lost in overseas investments, justified in open parliament by the husband of the waster, who on all accounts should be SACKED with immediate effect, had it been a private sector company. Ironically, this is the 'safety net' for such people in top positions; they can afford to lose millions and still keep their jobs...where is the risk as compared to the private sector? And they insist on keeping perspective...
Exhorbitant and wasteful spending on a useless Marina Bay 'renaming' exercise...which incidently went full circle instead of coming up with a attractive 'new' name.
Continuous and unchecked rise in the cost of living, including rise in hospital costs and transportation fees for the public.
The list goes on and on and on....
Now let's recap, how did these fattened ministers justify their pay rise yet again?
They created a lot of low end jobs for the young, the retrenched middle managers and the elderly who should be retiring peacefully in their golden years?Originally posted by BillyBong:While the ministers and PAP MPs have vigorously defended the so-called 'formula' for benchmarking salaries, has it occured that no one has actually put forth the tangible justifications why they should be given a pay rise?

I feel that their whole objective, is to keep everyone working to their graves, so that they can keep collecting Taxes from both young and old, with LITTLE or NO maintenance costs at all...Originally posted by charlize:They created a lot of low end jobs for the young, the retrenched middle managers and the elderly who should be retiring peacefully in their golden years?
