So after this PAY HIKE cries, i guess soon, or in a few months or so, there will be some sweeties from goverment for its citizens... always the case... lets wait and see. haha. jus my 5cts guess... :X

Is anything ever free in Singapore ?
"You pay for what you get" - has always been the philosophy of this fickle minded government.
What they pay you tomorrow, will be taken back by them the next day.
In any case, they have already started to take back what they have paid to every Singapore towards the end of 2006 - all the nonsense of Economic Bonus Shares are wiped out with the increase in the GST from 5% to 7%.
Hospital and Medical Fees, as well as Transport fares have gone up in 2006 - soon after the Elections, and those increased pinch are almost forgotten as we are numbed by the daily amount also being paid for the cost of food and utilities.
While COE is coming down, new ERP gantry has begun to populate all over the island, and with the gantry turned on at the most unexpected time and along the most unexpected road ways.
Sweeties soon ? Think again and be prepared for worst things to come. -

I believe the rulers expected this huge outcry at first reaction - but when things quieten down abit, cheap strings-attached-candies will soon be handed out to gullible Singaporeans.
The Regime has it's own timings and agendas in everything they do.
By the time the IR and new Marina Bay opened up with pomp and pageantry in 2010, almost everyone will forget the outrage caused by Ministers pay hike. And then the 2011 General Election.
The old guards know their voters too well. Remember, we are just mere statistics for them to manipulate and apply psychology whenever there is a need to pacify the population. -

Since when has anything this First CRASS government do ever genuinely benefit the people? They decrease the COE so that more people will buy cars (they know that the majority of Singaporeans are greedy and status conscious and will easily fall prey to it). More cars on the road means more road tax and ERP to collect. Which means more money to fill their pockets. Why oh why won't more Singaporeans bloody smell the coffee and wake up. Those damned sweeties were promised last year, but perhaps they delayed the release to time it after this then-unannounced pay raise date.
