If you bother to even show him a sign that he exists, he'll take each and every single chance to potray all quitters in a rather racist light, as well as blowing over the rather obvious reason why pragmatic Singaporeans quit in the first place.
The reasons are so numerous and obvious that one almost does not even have to state them, just look at the other threads in here. Of course Gazelle has not the energy to troll every thread, so he tries to stick it to one. But at the end of the day, he's not here to discuss, just trying to turn each and every thing pointed to fit into his twisted racist worldview.
It's rather funny actually, I mean he may think the agressiveness he uses here makes him look cool or gives him an edge, but it's actually giving people a really "nice" impression about his upbringing, as well as making him look rather paethetic.
Say what he wants, he can't really can't change the tide... and that's what matters at the end of the day. In that way he's like an angry, but impotent man.
The best thing to do is just sit back and enjoy him jumping up and down like a monkey in a cage at his inability to make any impression with anything he says. -

Anyway, just to vindicate myself, Gazelle, I am in the top 10% of the earning spectrum of the recent so-called salary survey (not to mention, I know I am younger than you by many years). That speaks volumes of who I am, and how I view myself. But I don't need to prove to you anything. I just bothered to slow down and am now analyzing the pains of the average Singaporean, since I broke out of the vicious cycle not long ago. You, on the other hand, go on and on bragging about yourself but only shows how self-centred you are.
Coquitlam, hey, I am also working hard at building up my base here, and then moving outwards to other markets. And then, when I have earned enough, to come back here to see how I can help fellow countrymen. I don't need to be involved in politics (though I was invited twice by young PAPs), there are many ways to solve the pains of the people here.
Perhaps you and I might even have the opportunity to cooperate in future, who knows?

coming back to the topic, I used to think I am cold towards Singapore, and regard myself as a mercenary. With my capabilities, and knowledge, I know I can go anywhere, and I will go to the place where I can earn the most money.
Recently, I finished my scholarship with a firm, and after getting disillusioned with how the firm worked, moved on to a foreign MNC, which values me much much more, and treats people better.
The recent govt fiasco of pay hike made me further disillusioned with the society, and the direction it is heading. IT seems like being happy is equated to money money money. I am very disappointed with the way things are going, coz our society is going to become worse and worse in terms of human values and compassion.
A big assault on the govt then followed with the fellow forum-lites here, and I was honoured to be involved. Though we could not protest physically, at least all of us here had some effect on the govt (LHL had to donate his pay hike grumpily)
And it made me realize that even though I was disillusioned with Singapore in general, I do have a passion to want to help the general public.
So, I am planning that in the next few years, I will move out into the world, and gain as much experience, exposure, and wealth, and when I come back to Singapore, to be able to help lessen the pains caused by the govt. I might even emigrate, but come back later on.
Basically, I don't care what the govt labels me. That's their propaganda. The most impt, is that, so long as we do what we see as right, and move ahead, then no one has the right to judge us.

Hmm, seems the dog is quite quiet for some time liao... mission acomplished.
I'm not too surprised our system is one that breeds mercenaries, or even a mercenary mindset in those who don't even intend to be quitters.
But I guess some people want to have their cake and eat it as well, if you keep saying that pragmatism is the only way to go for Singapore to survive, and that things like democracy and all those other things are simply idealogies that we should compromise on in order to survive, they shouldn't be surprised that the Singaporeans themselves start to see nationhood and loyalty as just another ideal that should bow to pragmatism.
After all, what really is keeping people here on a 700km square island at the end of the day? Pragmatism? Such thinking in the long run can only lead to problems. Keep giving ground in what it means to be Singaporeans by discarding the very ideas our nation was built on on the altar of pragmatism and survival and soon one might find that the very term "Singaporean" has come to have a value and meaning of nothing. -

But I do admire your passion to serve Sillypore...that I respect. I have also always thought I could do something for people here but after seeing what we as a society are capable of, I've given up hope here, like I always tell people around me, things are good here, at least on the surface but if you tear away at the veneer...there is no soul or whatever little there is is gonna slowly dissipate soon....
Anyway, all these talk about building overseas clubs by contact sillypore is all crap....asking around, I found out that its a desperate attempt to re-connect with people that this little red dot has already lost, including me.
Of course the vast majority of overseas 'poreans studying or working will come back but did they ever tell you the number of ex-poreans who have already emigrated, including me. Nah of course they will not reveal the whole picture for fear of fueling interest. They say that there are 150,000 overseas poreans working or studying. There are at least twice that number who have already left in the past 27 years starting from 1980.
End of the day, everyone is going to think for themselves and their children...there will be of course that small minority who will serve but people like me who have to think day to day and figure out how to make a better life for myself and my future family....work is more than I can cope esp when I have to think about it even in my dreams.
