People whom THINK they are elites, but in fact, are idiots in terms of compassion and human values. Anyway, just to vindicate myself, Gazelle, I am in the top 10% of the earning spectrum of the recent so-called salary survey (not to mention, I know I am younger than you by many years). That speaks volumes of who I am, and how I view myself. But I don't need to prove to you anything. I just bothered to slow down and am now analyzing the pains of the average Singaporean, since I broke out of the vicious cycle not long ago. You, on the other hand, go on and on bragging about yourself but only shows how self-centred you are.
Coquitlam, hey, I am also working hard at building up my base here, and then moving outwards to other markets. And then, when I have earned enough, to come back here to see how I can help fellow countrymen. I don't need to be involved in politics (though I was invited twice by young PAPs), there are many ways to solve the pains of the people here.
Perhaps you and I might even have the opportunity to cooperate in future, who knows?

There is nothing wrong in thinking for ourselves. In fact, I advocate to my disciples to always think for themselves first, for it is only when you have fed yourself properly, can you help others. But I do admire your passion to serve Sillypore...that I respect. I have also always thought I could do something for people here but after seeing what we as a society are capable of, I've given up hope here, like I always tell people around me, things are good here, at least on the surface but if you tear away at the veneer...there is no soul or whatever little there is is gonna slowly dissipate soon....
End of the day, everyone is going to think for themselves and their children...there will be of course that small minority who will serve but people like me who have to think day to day and figure out how to make a better life for myself and my future family....work is more than I can cope esp when I have to think about it even in my dreams.

For those few good men – quitters as they’re known - out there, by all means go and make your money but pls come back and play a part in public service for at least a term to represent and serve the 80% of citizens who cannot quit the country.
And if you succeed in making Singapore a good place for her citizens to call home, you might even reconsider giving up your plan to emigrate.
I do not agreed with the MMÂ’s talk about revolving door type of government. If one already has expertise and wealth of experience gained in or outside Singapore, he does not need to spend his entire lifetime learning how to serve like the current cabinet ministers and high ranking civil servants are doing now..
The penalty that good men pay for not being interested in politics is to be
governed by men worse than themselves. You can tell by the way these scholars talked and defended their policies. ItÂ’s just not convincing at all. -
I think there are many ways to help the population, or rather in the more correct terms, give guidance to the general population. It is not necessarily thru politics nor thru public service. The recent forum between LKY and YPAP have also highlighted the "brain drain" issue.
I think the fact that people will be moving around different countries as globalization takes root is a given. What I believe we should be doing is to make it that when people leave, at the end of the day they will still want to come back to SG.
