Sure, american has the social security for its people and they are also the biggest debtor in the world.Originally posted by walesa:That is how the world functions only if you have a decent system within a society that at least provides the basic social safety net (or some would call it social security) for the majority to operate. In the absence of such measures to safeguard the interests of the majority (think minimum wage in labour terms or social responsibility on the social side of things), that rich-poor gap is just unnecessarily accentuated further...

Hey dude, mind sending a link to your survey on the Singapore top 10% earning spectrum, perferably something that is more recent.Originally posted by soul_rage:I just find that he is rude. I was merely just asking coz he probably has a side of the story on why he thinks things are so good here, he had to insult me.
Anyway, just to vindicate myself, Gazelle, I am in the top 10% of the earning spectrum of the recent so-called salary survey (not to mention, I know I am younger than you by many years). That speaks volumes of who I am, and how I view myself. But I don't need to prove to you anything. I just bothered to slow down and am now analyzing the pains of the average Singaporean, since I broke out of the vicious cycle not long ago. You, on the other hand, go on and on bragging about yourself but only shows how self-centred you are.
Coquitlam, hey, I am also working hard at building up my base here, and then moving outwards to other markets. And then, when I have earned enough, to come back here to see how I can help fellow countrymen. I don't need to be involved in politics (though I was invited twice by young PAPs), there are many ways to solve the pains of the people here.
Perhaps you and I might even have the opportunity to cooperate in future, who knows?
PS: Thanks Boy Stratus for being so nice
There is nothing wrong in thinking for ourselves. In fact, I advocate to my disciples to always think for themselves first, for it is only when you have fed yourself properly, can you help others. Note that I DO NOT advocate hogging wealth, I am advocating making sure you take care of yourself first before you can have the capacity to help others.Originally posted by Coquitlam:Way to go man soul rage..hahaha...didn't know that this gazelle is a troll...hmm, there are indeed many of these people around in Sillypore...
But I do admire your passion to serve Sillypore...that I respect. I have also always thought I could do something for people here but after seeing what we as a society are capable of, I've given up hope here, like I always tell people around me, things are good here, at least on the surface but if you tear away at the veneer...there is no soul or whatever little there is is gonna slowly dissipate soon....
End of the day, everyone is going to think for themselves and their children...there will be of course that small minority who will serve but people like me who have to think day to day and figure out how to make a better life for myself and my future family....work is more than I can cope esp when I have to think about it even in my dreams.
Hey Walesa....what are you plans man...
YEah you are right soulrade, we should collaborate..
Just finished a book on where the world in business and competitive terms is heading....good book man
World is Flat by Thomas L Friedman...
are you talking to me nicely between normal people, or are you trying to insult me again?Originally posted by Gazelle:Hey dude, mind sending a link to your survey on the Singapore top 10% earning spectrum, perferably something that is more recent.
we have had this discussion about elite and elitist long time about. Might want to do a search for this topic so that we dont waste time talking about it all over again.Originally posted by soul_rage:By the way, whinner is spelt as whiner. ddress should be address
anyway, from your remarks, you sound like the very people PAP is made of, people who have an 'elitist' attitude. And please don't think I am praising you
Definition of People with 'elitist' attitude:
People whom THINK they are elites, but in fact, are idiots in terms of compassion and human values. Utterly detached from other people, bordering on self-centeredness, smacks of arrogance and hiding behind the fake 'I understand where you are coming from, but...', when in fact, they do not understand the word "Understand"
And these group of 'kids' and 'students' had a part in forcing LHL part with his money grumpily. So what does that make LHL?
I have done a search on the internet I dont seem to find any specific to what you are saying. And I also believe that it is not in the government interest to publish this since it will put more salt to the wound/Originally posted by soul_rage:are you talking to me nicely between normal people, or are you trying to insult me again?
I thought you should know, after all the latest releases of those figures by our govt? Or are you interested to just know how much I earned.
Sorry, if you are coming from a nice direction, then you better let me know, and I would be most willing to discuss things with you.
This really takes the cake...Gazelle is so shallow.....don't even know what American society is all about...Originally posted by Gazelle:Sure, american has the social security for its people and they are also the biggest debtor in the world.
Raymond Lee from Exxonmobil was given a retirement package of US$400m, I suppose the average americans are also being paid pretty similar pay package huh?

All the more we should put salt in the wound by letting everyone here know the status of the outflow of ex'poreans...would sure be fun to see the how the locals here react to see what they are missing out onOriginally posted by Gazelle:I have done a search on the internet I dont seem to find any specific to what you are saying. its ok, Coquitlam, if he wants to know, I can just let him know since he spoke nicely.Originally posted by Coquitlam:Soulrage
No point discussing it with Gazelle.....even if her were coming from a nice angle
hmm..I think your figure is top10% earning among Singaporeans, not top10% earner in Singapore. If you include expat, I think it will be alot higher than that. thats my gut feel.Originally posted by soul_rage:its ok, Coquitlam, if he wants to know, I can just let him know since he spoke nicely.
Gazelle, it was in the papers, that's why I said so-called income survey. They were using it as a means for some talk about their pay hike as well.
The average middle-income person earns btw S$1,500 to S$4,000.00/mth.
The top 10% is >= S$7,000.00
don't ask me to find proof. I can't be bothered.
and I agree, I don't want to talk about elites and elitist attitude. I just want to remind you the dangers of what you are doing here.
maybe, maybe not, *shrugs* all I remembered was income range for people working in Singapore.Originally posted by Gazelle:hmm..I think your figure is top10% earning among Singaporeans, not top10% earner in Singapore. If you include expat, I think it will be alot higher than that. thats my gut feel.
I the first place, why should you be border by how much money other people are making? Instead of whining about it, why not take some time to learn about how to make money instead.Originally posted by Coquitlam:All the more we should put salt in the wound by letting everyone here know the status of the outflow of ex'poreans...would sure be fun to see the how the locals here react to see what they are missing out on
LOL like whining about racism in Australia instead of marching down to the Australian embassy to right things?Originally posted by Gazelle:I the first place, why should you be border by how much money other people are making? Is this what I call typical Kiasu Singaporean attitute?

everybody is, the only difference is if you are happy with what you make.Originally posted by Coquitlam:Hi Gila Gazelle
The numbers should be published to motivate people....and incidentally, I am already making money, thank you.
Not yet. We ain't planning for one yet. Unlike your's... which was of a different color. Probably by an australian guy, that's what's making you so mad and angry about Australia.Originally posted by Gazelle:Is the mother you are dating expecting your baby?
I think there are many ways to help the population, or rather in the more correct terms, give guidance to the general population. It is not necessarily thru politics nor thru public service. The myopic leaders can keep their jobs, I don't really care much for them, but more for how we can make this place a better place to live in.Originally posted by googoomuck:IÂ’ve posted this in another thread but I think itÂ’s more appropriate to post here.
For those few good men – quitters as they’re known - out there, by all means go and make your money but pls come back and play a part in public service for at least a term to represent and serve the 80% of citizens who cannot quit the country.
And if you succeed in making Singapore a good place for her citizens to call home, you might even reconsider giving up your plan to emigrate.
I do not agreed with the MMÂ’s talk about revolving door type of government. If one already has expertise and wealth of experience gained in or outside Singapore, he does not need to spend his entire lifetime learning how to serve like the current cabinet ministers and high ranking civil servants are doing now..
The penalty that good men pay for not being interested in politics is to be
governed by men worse than themselves. You can tell by the way these scholars talked and defended their policies. ItÂ’s just not convincing at all.
